The first time I look at an 800 pages book on math subjects at University 15 years ago, I thought that this semester seem hard! But, I swallowed that book faster than a 100 pages book that I learned in the previous semester even it's a harder subject.
A 100 pages book just has theories and exercises, if lucky, you can find a short example after reading many pages. The 800 pages book is the opposite, there is just one line of theory but a whole page of examples for helping you understand it. That's the first time I realize what is the best way to learn faster.
I'm using that method to train my staff, to help someone understand a knowledge, or currently sharing my experiences and some skills to Gen Z in my weekly podcast. And with this proposal, I want to help new Cardano adopters can study our ecosystem easier and faster.
PROBLEMS
Back to a year ago, when starting research about Catalyst project for fundraising for my project, it was tough because:
- Specialized vocabularies: It's easy for a person that works in the blockchain industry for years but very hard for students or anyone who first-time studied it. The easiest way is to google it but different from an English vocabulary, you can understand it after a minute. A specialized vocabulary takes hours or days and sometimes needs combining a lot of knowledge to understand it, but you can still get it wrong.
- Systematic info: 80% of studying knowledge will be misled if we learn without a structure. This will be more important to newbies because someone takes hours, days, months for learning. Then when they discuss with people and feel nothing. That's so disappointing and down them. Then they give up! The only thing they need is a simple structure of things they want to know.
- Time is money: Even free help is still worth something! Learning faster, better with the right knowledge structure and right mindset will help speed up and save a lot of money for everyone that is impacted.
And now, when helping other people to understand how Catalyst project and CA/vCA work, I saw:
- Insight: It's not about the definitions, workflows, principles in the guideline document. Newbie is concerned more with other insights, mostly will relate to their benefit. If lucky, there is someone who will answer them, then some of those questions will be repeated many times. We need a specific place to answer and lead them there each time the question is repeated.
- Not focus: on reading the info, or can be confused after reading - that's depending on how they understand the content in the guideline. A document is not enough to notice readers focus on what they have to focus on, for ex: mostly will look at benefits carefully and forget the principle.
SOLUTION
To solve all of those problems, I propose making a whiteboard vlog series that is converged by these criteria:
- Topic: topics that the vlog will aim will be sliced into small pieces, instead of bringing the whole guideline document into a video. We will take a small part of it. Including:
- Basic knowledge: fundamental information, rules, principles… that do not change regularly. We will make them easier that even grandma can understand.
- Important info: bored important info now will be explained more interesting to help people understand easier and remember better.
- Insight: no more repeated answering for a repeated question! Just lead them to our channel.
- Content: I'm sure that it will not be like reading a document. With analogies, stories, and examples we will help audiences understand easier. We will use our experiences and try to make content that connects to the real world more to even help a 5 years old kid to get it.
- Style: even it's a whiteboard, you will not be bored. We will try to make the content and media
- Funnier
- More visualize
- Clearer
- Multilanguage:
- We will make voicing Vietnamese and add more English sub in the scope of this proposal.
- We will also share the video source that everyone can access then use for your language.
- In fund 10, we will as for a fund for translating all the old and new video subs into other languages: Korean, Japanese, Chinese…
- The structure: we will use blog posts on the website www.thepiratenotes.com for structuring the content categories. It will help people find the info easier.
TARGETS & IMPACTS
Content in this channel will mainly focus on the Catalyst project this year, then we will expand to the Cardano ecosystem in the future when we have a good production team.
So, it will help anyone who wants to study about Cardano and Catalyst project and make them more active in the ecosystem.
Especially, I'm on my own way to developing a podcast to serve Gen Z in my channel. So I believe that I can help them have a good knowledge and mindset about the Cardano ecosystems and together develop it.
Align with Challenge KPIs
We generate
- 1 whiteboard content creation team
- 1 channel of video content on youtube
- 1 category for structuring the knowledge in my personal website
- 1 open source of whiteboard video
For measuring the community awareness
- Total view & reaction of content on youtube
- Total view & reaction of content on social media channels.
- Total subscription to the channel
- Traffic to website
- Total of suggestion ideas from the audience in our channels
The only risk of this project is some pieces of information will be changed. For ex: the Catalyst policy for CA, or funding rules… So, we will focus more on general information, for particular information we will make some shorter videos to change or replace it easier in the future, in addition, we will add a blog post on the website www.thepiratenotes.com to help the audience clear about it.
