Cardano Learn to Earn for Devs

Please describe your proposed solution.

"Cardano Learn to Earn" is a Learn to Earn platform designed to supercharge developer education with learning incentives.

We provide structured lessons which anyone with access to a computer and internet can follow. Lessons include theory and step by step how-to's, in English and Spanish.

Check our github for the latest lessons and lesson structure available - <https://github.com/Cardano-LEARN>. Our telegram community is at https://t.me/Cardano_L_EARN. We are already running the program using our own funds. Please check out our progress!

Each lesson includes a test and ADA incentive. Pass the test and you receive the ADA! The test is to verify knowledge and practical ability described in the lesson.

Students must verify unique identity via BrightID or video call before withdrawing earnings.

Cardano L-EARN involves a team of lesson planners and creators, test administrators, and community managers

Education is peer-to-peer, which means you will be able to teach and test lessons you have already passed. This aspect is volunteer based for now.

We are regularly updating lessons to reflect the evolving state of Cardano Developement so instructions will always be accurate and up to date..

Everything created by Cardano L-EARN is open source.

Are you excited to Learn and Earn ADA with Cardano L-EARN? Come try for yourself! If you want to collaborate, reach out to us!

Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

Our main strategy is to provide an incentivization structure for developers to learn Cardano Develoment. An ADA reward is earned for every lesson completed.

Guiding questions

  • How do we attract developers from outside of our current community to participate in Catalyst?
  • Many developers, especially from low income countries will be attracted by Learn to Earn.
  • What do developers want, and how do they get it from the Cardano dev ecosystem?
  • Some developers want structured lessons, others are looking for sources of income. We can provide both
  • What would make it a developer motivated to grind through the docs and code no matter how hard it is to create an app?
  • ADA incentives.

Potential directions

  • Knowledge base & Documentation
  • Our main value add here is structured lessons. We can use a combination of existing, modified and brand new lessons.
  • Samples, recipes and templates
  • Lessons include many practical guides with such samples
  • Support structures
  • Our telegram community can provide some form of support structure.
  • Incentivization structures
  • This is what we are all about!

Why is it important?

Learn to Earn is a very powerful way to train and teach developers, and keep them continuously practising. The most important skills can be rewarded the highest.

What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Challenges

  • Updating potentially broken tutorials as Cardano ecosystem evolves
  • Guaranteeing continuous content creation
  • Language barriers to adoption
  • Overcoming Barriers to onboarding new users

Risks

  • Sybil attackers
  • Possibly broken tutorials as Cardano ecosystem evolves
  • Running out of funds to pay learners
  • Students copying answers

Risk Mitigation

  • Sybil attackers

  • proof of person, brightID and video calls

  • Running out of funds to pay learners

  • We will week to raise more funds from Catalyst if necessary, and receive sponsorship from other Cardano organizations and holders.

  • Students copying answers

  • Use long form answers

  • check for plagiarism

  • use practical exercises for testing

  • write questions with unique answers

  • update test questions regularly

  • consider moving to exam style testing instead of asychronous testing

If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

If funded, we would return for additional funding after a year to continue running the learn to earn program, in order to continuously train developers in the long term.

Cardano Learn to Earn is a long term proposal, and is designed as a cost effective way to train, onboard and retain developers for a very long time.

Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

We will measure progress and provide auditability by providing monthly KPI reports, with data on the following KPIs

  • number of tests passed
  • number of users reaching learning milestones
  • number of lessons created
  • number of community members in telegram
  • Spending report
  • number of successful montly KPI reports

We will also hire Cardano developers, as well as students to audit lessons for accuracy and functionality. Details of audits will be provided in the KPI reports.

What does success for this project look like?
