Solution

We will make a 16 minute long animated short movie about Cardano, highlighting its developmental milestones & the impact they had on the lives of its community members through a roadmap based parody.

Problem

Hello all! Cardano is a seemingly misunderstood community; we need to create content to shed light on its actual impact and developments in a way that’s relatable & highly “sharable”.

Yaad Labs + AdaLink/Frenchies Club + Cardano Curation: Cardano the Animated Movie

Please describe your proposed solution

101-color–027207.jpg

Our proposed solution is an animated short movie that highlights Cardano's development milestones and showcases the impact of each era (Byron, Shelly, Goguen, Basho & Voltaire) on the actual community.

With the help of AdaLink/Frenchies Club and Cardano Curation, we will be using & showcasing real stories from real people; and this is in part what will make this movie special, as it will serve as a timely reminder to all those watching, why this movement matters.

The technology is understandably seen by many as nascent - I believe even those "building" are perhaps so focused on the big picture that they miss the realities of present day impact. This story through its comedic take of Cardano's road map, will bring into focus the meaningful work that's taken place over these last seven years.

In closing, the animated short will be important because it will be in many cases a community initiative that says "thank you" to those building - it will foster a sense of belonging, it will clarify the journey for outsiders and importantly, it will give the audience a well needed laugh!

The animated shorts impact will be measured by reach, sentiment and engagement.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

Broadly speaking our solution will:

  • Involve/allow for the community to participate by sharing their stories
  • Entertain the audience with the story's comedic interpretation of events
  • Educate People on Cardano's history
  • Highlight the impact of Cardano as a technology and a movement
  • Foster a sense of community/belonging
  • Expand our reach through sharable content/content marketing

We will measure the impact of the movie by tracking:

  • Reach
  • Engagement
  • Sentiment

A part from the usual channels that Project Catalyst provides like the open milestone modules, public closeout report and impact surveys - outputs can be observed in our community channels on twitter and discord.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

Our team has been animating for over a decade and our founders are revered as pioneers in the Caribbean Animation industry. We have also demonstrated that we're capable, as we've been animating for Cardano and largely for free since we joined the community. Some of our work can be viewed here:

https://twitter.com/tipsy__turtles/status/1770579606464049161

The traction we've gotten so far demonstrates that the idea is feasible - and from the feedback we've gotten, we believe long form content with more "meat on its bones" is what we need to "crack the code"!

It would be keen to note too that a part from the first tranche, catalyst doesn't release funds unless specific milestones are met, which should help to further alleviate concerns over any mismanagement of ADA.

What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

Milestone 1: Visual Story Boarding & Character Designing

Milestone outputs

1 Rough Animatic and 29 character turnarounds made based on the script/script needs for the animated short movie.

Acceptance criteria

1 Rough Animatic and 29 character turnarounds that give a visual idea of what the show and its characters will look like.

Evidence of milestone completion

1 Rough Animatic and 29 character turnarounds shared via a google drive link with public permissions.

Milestone 2: Voice Acting & Background Designing

Milestone outputs

Audio and 20 Background Designs made based on the script/script needs for the animated short movie.

Acceptance criteria

Audio and 20 Background Designs that give an idea of what the show will sound like and look like from a "setting" perspective.

Evidence of milestone completion

Audio and 20 Background Designs shared via a google drive link with public permissions.

Milestone 3: Animating & Compositing

Milestone outputs

A full 16 minute long animated short movie made based on the script.

Acceptance criteria

A full 16 minute long animated short movie made based on the script, that is complete and ready for distribution.

Evidence of milestone completion

A full 16 minute long animated short movie made based on the script, that is complete and ready for distribution shared via a google drive link with public permissions.

Final Milestone: Project Completion/Project Closeout report

Milestone outputs

A close out report and video done as per Project Catalyst guidelines. The closeout report will include the links to the animatics, character turnarounds, audio, background designs and animation.

Acceptance criteria

A close out report that includes the links to the animatics, character turnarounds, audio, background designs and completed animated short movie.

Evidence of milestone completion

A close out report that includes the links to the animatics, character turnarounds, audio, background designs and completed animated short movie, viewable in a Google Drive link.

Please provide a cost breakdown of the proposed work and resources

NB

The rate used is one 1 ADA = $0.45 (USD).

No dependencies.

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The project represents value for money as there are no writer fees, no producer fees and no director fees which is about $12-$14,000 USD in savings. Beyond that, all the rates are done just at or below market rates for Caribbean creatives with a lot of savings (roughly 200%) on the animator expenses.

The community will also benefit from bonus creative - as many as 19-55 pieces of supporting content.
