Solution

Rect Template project to connect wallets and if applicable vote for the future of the project. Including Backend code for verification and storing of votes

Problem

There are no White Label or Template resources on voting systems for NFT projects, for applicable Wallets. Existing Voting solutions are branded platforms. They usually require transactions to vote

Whitelabel Voting Template

Please describe your proposed solution.

At Whiskees NFTs, we currently face the problem of enabling voting for token holders on our website.

Existing solutions either rely on on-chain voting and/or are branded platforms.

However, we recognize the value of having a non-branded voting system directly integrated into our website. Such a solution improves the competence and appearance of projects and helps the overall user experience (UX). Moreover, we aim to avoid on-chain voting as it would require transaction fees, which may not be feasible for frequent voting rounds.

By developing a template, we provide projects with the possibility to quickly create their own voting systems and seamlessly integrate it into their websites or sub-domains.

This empowers developers of NFT projects, dApps, and communities to easily incorporate voting functionality while maintaining their branding and enhancing the experience for their users.

We engaging primarily with developers of these projects, we only indirectly contribute to the users of these projects, but believe it will help to improve the whole ecosystem and developer experience

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

The project will be an easy to use full stack template.

  • Frontend code will be written unopinionated and well documented

  • Backend code will be with extensive documentation and tests

The cardano ecosystem will benefit by having more open source resources as reference. Furthermore projects can easier engage with their community and let them have a say in ideas

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

The nature of being a template open source project and not including tracking, prevents us from quantifying how many votes have been cast in total using this template.

Therefore we instead aim to use activity on GitHub (Stars, PR, Forks, Closed Issues) as indicator of developer experience and success

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

I am committed to releasing the full source code of our project.

Additionally, we plan to showcase the functionality of the voting system by implementing it within our own project, utilizing the same template we have developed. This will serve as a practical demonstration of the voting system's capabilities and allow others to see it in action.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

I am a student pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science and Economics.

My previous experience includes working on several Cardano projects, where I have been involved in tasks such as developing authentication flows for HHMC, creating custom scripts for large-scale NFT projects.

In addition, I am also the developer for Whiskees NFTs. A project focusing on providing opportunities for crowd investments in whiskey casks. We have recently purchased our first batch of whiskey casks using funds raised from the community.

Generally we want and need a robust voting system, this is where the idea comes from.

Outside of the Cardano ecosystem, I work as a freelance developer, working on a variety of web and app projects. This has allowed me to gain practical experience in real-world development.

What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

Our primary objective is to create a user-friendly setup process for the template.

We aim to have the template up and running in 5 minutes, ensuring a quick and seamless experience for developers. Achieving this goal will significantly increase the likelihood of developers choosing to utilize the template for their projects.

In addition to an easy setup, we are committed to providing comprehensive documentation. The documentation will offer in-depth explanations on various aspects, including what each feature entails, how to implement them in your own project, and the underlying reasons behind design choices.

Furthermore, the documentation will emphasize security measures, ensuring that developers have a clear understanding of the security protocols and best practices in place to ensure fair and secure voting.

Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.

Milestones

  1. Task -> Research into ideal technical setup (1 week)
  2. Goal is up and running in 5 mins
  3. Popular and easy languages
  4. Task ->Develop the template (6 weeks)
  5. release a fullstack example
  6. extensive documentation and guides
  7. live demo
  8. Task -> Gather feedback and work on improvements (5 weeks)
  9. Resolve problems
  10. Add features and examples

Of course I will continue to work on PR's, Issues and features after the 3 months, however we hope to have ironed out any major bugs and made it into a valuable reference for developers

Please describe the deliverables, outputs and intended outcomes of each milestone.

Milestone 1

  1. Deliverable
  2. Report on commonly used technologies
  3. Most suited way to have off chain voting
  4. Output
  5. Whitepaper like document
  6. Intend
  7. Research necessities and technical details

Milestone 2

  1. Deliverable
  2. Create the template with detailed documentation and guides
  3. Output
  4. Source code on GitHub
  5. Intend
  6. Make it available publicly for others to use

Milestone 3

  1. Deliverable
  2. Work actively on GitHub PRs, Requests…

  4. 7.500 ADA
  5. Further improvements
  6. 6.500 ADA

Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Sandro Schaier (26)

  1. Developer
  2. Believe in Decntralised systems as the new default
  3. Worked on various cardano solutions
  4. Simple wallet authentication for HHMC…
  5. Tools and scripts for various 10k+ NFT projects
  6. Developer for Whiskees NFTs
  7. https://whiskeesnfts.com/#mint

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The cost mainly covers the cost of living in Germany. With 15,000 ADA amounting to approximately $4,500 over a span of 3 months, it appears to be a fair amount.
