Scientific research on Cardano at universities in recent years has existed but has been limited. The activities are still few and narrow in scope.

Vietnam is actively promoting the Cardano ecosystem in universities, yet lecturer and student involvement in Cardano research is still limited. UBA, as a network of academic lecturers, is well-positioned to foster a future Cardano workforce by leading faculty groups in Cardano-related research. With its reach to thousands of students and researchers annually, UBA can significantly contribute to the growth of the Cardano ecosystem.

According to our evaluation of over 18 universities, most of them are facing challenges related to:

Low participation rates: Real-world data shows that the participation of both lecturers and students in scientific research and the development of the Cardano ecosystem is still limited, a significant issue that needs to be addressed in Vietnam.
Number of scientific publications: Although most university lecturers have been conducting research and publishing scientific papers, they are facing numerous challenges that require support.
Lack of mentorship: The lack of mentors is one of the primary reasons why groups of lecturers and students are hesitant to participate. This highlights the urgent need for resources and support to foster research within the Cardano ecosystem.
Opportunities for UBA: With its resources and experience, UBA is well-positioned to play a crucial role in collaborating with universities to address this issue and cultivate a vibrant and dynamic community of future Cardano developers.

UBA's unique and crucial approach focuses on fostering an annual, mainstream movement to create a broad impact domestically and internationally. UBA will directly fund lecturers and students of research projects, coupled with awards for outstanding achievements. This will significantly incentivize lecturers and students, encouraging them to strive for excellence and generate added value for the Cardano ecosystem. As a result, students, lecturers, universities, and the Cardano community will all benefit. This is a pivotal step in advancing Cardano by providing abundant resources for future talent.

Lecturers and students team: UBA will encourage faculty and students from various universities to participate by providing financial support for their projects. Moreover, outstanding research projects will be rewarded.
Lecturers Research Support: Lecturers members who successfully mentor research projects will be recognized with awards for their dedicated support.

Leveraging UBA's existing resources, this project aims to attract the following target groups:

Students from universities nationwide: Particularly those studying information technology, computer science, and related fields. We have successfully developed various clubs such as the SFIT Club and the UTC Blockchain Club, and others.
Lecturer members: Experienced individuals with a passion for mentoring students in Cardano research.
Universities: Institutions seeking to enhance their educational quality, expand collaborations, and build their brand in scientific research.
The Cardano community: Developers, researchers, and those interested in blockchain technology, especially Cardano.
Investors: Attracting investors interested in innovative scientific research projects in Vietnam and internationally.

For the past 2 years, UBA has been leading the charge in encouraging university faculty and students to get involved in research. The numerous research awards we've received in 2022, and 2023 are proof.

To keep this momentum going and nurture more research talent at universities, we need to create a thriving research community within the Cardano ecosystem. This year, UBA will continue to host a variety of research activities at universities.

1, Measurement of Impact:

a. Quantitative:

Number of projects: Track the number of funded projects, completed projects, and successfully implemented projects.
Number of lecturers and students involved: Count the number of students participating in projects, the number of students completing related courses as CBCA, and the number of students continuing scientific research for the project.
Number of articles, scientific journals, and publications: Monitor the number of scientific articles published on technology forums, scientific journals, etc.
Number of open-source codes: Count the number of open-source codes developed on platforms like Github, Gitlab, etc.
Number of users: Measure the applicability of the product, the number of users.
Number of projects participating in Project Catalyst: Track the number of students participating in project proposals on Project Catalyst and the number of funded projects.

b, Qualitative:

Survey: Conduct surveys to assess feedback from students, lecturers, universities, etc.
Interview: Interview representatives of participating groups to gather their perceptions, experiences, and lessons learned.
Quality Assessment: Evaluate the quality of projects based on criteria set by the Ministry of Education or the university (creativity, feasibility, and contribution to the development of Cardano).

2, How we share the results

Annual reports: Completing monthly reports on project progress, results, and impact.
Organizing workshops, conferences: Organizing events to showcase project results, create opportunities for networking and collaboration among research groups, and connect with organizations and partners.
Social media publication: Writing articles, papers, and blog posts on fan pages, scientific journals, technology forums, Cardano forums, etc.

3, Significant value to the Cardano ecosystem

Human resource development: Training and developing a generation of Cardano researchers with in-depth knowledge of Cardano.
Promoting innovation**:** Encouraging creativity and innovation in building applications on the Cardano platform.
Expanding the community: Attracting more people to join the Cardano community in Vietnam and internationally.
Contributing to Cardano's development: Research projects will provide many useful solutions for Cardano, as well as diversify creative and useful products for the community.

Our team, the driving force behind the successful Cardano Summits in 2022 and 2023, consists of seasoned technical experts from Cardano2vn.io, professors from five top universities, and professionals backed by substantial funding (Funds 6-12). We are committed to fostering scientific research on the Cardano platform.

Bio: President of the University Blockchain Alliance, Computer Science Researcher, and Lecturer at the Information Technology Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Advisor for Open Educational Resources (OER) programs of UNESCO, ASIA, and Vietnam.

🎓 Nguyen Anh Tien, MSc

Role: Project Manager, Blockchain Developer

Bio: Vice President of the University Blockchain Alliance, the founder of the VILAI stake pool, and a computer science expert working in the Cardano/Crypto space since 2018. Cardano Ambassador, Funded Proposer, Plutus, Atala Prism Pioneer Program member, a Challenge Team member and co-host for Eastern Town Hall.

🎓 Linh Pham, DInfoTech

Role: Project Advisor

Bio: He is Australia-based, completed his professional doctorate in information technology (DInfoTech), was a computer network and security consultant and became an academic specializing in digital forensics and cybersecurity in 2004.

He is involved with Cardano Ecosystem and Project Catalyst in the following community roles: Fund 7 Challenge Team member for “Disarm cyber disinformation attacks”. Team Lead in Fund8 and Fund9 for “Grow East Asia, Grow Cardano” and Fund10 Team Lead for “Development & Infrastructure” challenges and Co-host and Moderator for Eastern Hemisphere Townhall since Fund 7.
