Solution

Start by training 100 Math teachers interested in programming to pass this skill on to their learners and peers to increase coder capacity

Problem

If teachers were trained to focus on teaching Mathematics computationally we would increase the number much needed functional programmers

Train 100 Math Teachers in Africa

Overall Objective: Train 100 Mathematics teachers to teach functional programming for the Cardano blockchain in 4 Months

KPIs

  • Design a course online course that supports Mathematics teachers in Eastern Africa to teach functional programming to the children they teach include teaching methods for ease of learning and Learner motivation

  • Select 100 Mathematics Teachers to be trained from data bases and requests from Country Teachers Services Commissions

  • Invite teachers to the 3 month course in

  • Enroll teachers to the course and also the community

  • Train Teachers over a period of 3 months at

  • Teachers establish Cardano clubs where coding using Haskell is taught and practiced

  • Document Success of the project and preset the teachers

  • We hope that this proposal will be seeded to increase the number of new African projects seeded in 2022

  • By training these teachers, we will increase the number of tech use case solutions as more and more people start to build on the block chain as a result of the training and capacity building

  • We hope to onboard new developers in Africa as a result for this training of math teachers

  • The local impact of training 100 teachers well is significant as many Mathematics teachers are influential in their schools and tend to hold senior administrative positions

  • Local partnerships will be formed through this as we intend to go through the teacher service commission and the Institute of curriculum development through stakeholder engagements

The risk with training teachers is being able to catch them as they may only be available during holidays and can be very busy and preoccupied during the school team. We may need to incentivize them to attend through some kind of learn and earn program
