Solution

Organize a Token for Good Summit side event during Paris Blockchain Week, to capture the audience attention during this week, and be a beacon for Blockchain for Good, helping others discover Cardano.

Problem

Blockchain is a great technology too often associated with crypto, and too private sector focused, letting NGOs, non-profits and actors of Good aside. Blockchain for good isn’t a big enough topic.

Token for Good - PBW Side Event : Expose Cardano as a leader in Blockchain for Good

Please describe your proposed solution

Token for Good Summit is an event that was created in 2024, hosting its first edition in Geneva in October 2024. With the goal of educating NGOs, Foundations, and in general every actors of Good on Blockchain use cases, we gathered more than 40 speakers into our first edition, from all backgrounds :

  • NGOs such as Doctors Without Borders, WEF, UNECE, UEFA for Children, UNICEF, Switzerland for UNHCR
  • Governmental entities such as City of Geneva, Canton of Geneva, French ministry of Interior in Cyberspace
  • Academies such as Sciences Po, ESSEC Paris, University of Zurich
  • Blockchain leaders such as C-LEVEL from Mina Foundation, Hedera, Cardano Foundation, Partisia, Vechain

Our solution is to replicate this event next to a bigger Blockchain event (here Paris Blockchain Week) to spread awareness on these use cases, and help gather actors of Good in the same place at the same moment. This event would aim to attract 250 to 300 participants (around 150 in Geneva in October), for an afternoon event with conferences on Blockchain use cases for Good.

In one sentence, our solution is an event where all Blockchain for Good actors will be gathered in the same place, positioning Cardano and Catalyst as leaders in this topic (that is a strategic positioning of the ecosystem for a few years now).

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

It does address the challenge and have an impact on the community by highlighting Cardano’s leader position on Sustainability and “For-Good” topics.

By being principally funded by Project Catalyst, this event will help Cardano and Project Catalyst to have a specific visibility to actors of the Blockchain for Good ecosystem, notably by the Title of the event with Catalyst in it, and a Keynote of 15 minutes at the start of the event to explain a Blockchain for Good-related project that exists on Cardano.

Moreover, gathering around 300 persons to discuss such topics has almost never been done before, and this would create a unique brand image to Project Catalyst and Cardano. This would help to grow Cardano’s community with high-quality builders, thinkers and actors of the Blockchain economy, as well as help its community to connect with others communities to gather strengths and build up a better world.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

Our team has been involved in the Blockchain industry since a while, with complementary skills and all having the habit of creating events.

Emilie-Alice is the president of The Good Token Society association, where she organized workshops, conferences, gave panels and moderations. His LinkedIn here.

What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

Milestone 1: Please kindly note that there are almost 100% chances that the organization of the event started before the funding from Catalyst, as Fund 13 onboarding starts around 3 months before the event. We will probably prepare speakers and topics before, as well as look for sponsors for the event so if the Catalyst community sadly doesn’t decide to be in, we can still try to do the event. For this, I will detail before Milestone 1 a “Milestone 0” explaining what we want to do before onboarding.

Milestone 0 : Month 1-3 :

Month 1 : Organization : (already in progress)

  • Creation of the artistic direction and panel topics
  • Create the different sponsors packs offers
  • More precise researches of event venue and date, and globally how will it be operated and so the associated budget as well (Catalyst proposal is the “max” budget of the range, and if it is less costly, the rest will just not be used and let to Catalyst fund)
  • Distribute more precisely tasks within the involved team

Month 2-3 : Partnerships :

  • Start to prospect to every speakers we think relevant for the topics to ensure a high-quality talk and attendees
  • Start to prospect to web 3 companies for sponsors
  • Start to prospect to have community partnerships and prepare a communication plan for community partners

Month 2-3 : Start to have it done :

  • Validate at least 1 sponsor for the event
  • Validating at least 5 high-quality speakers/moderators (public sector, NGOs or C-Level Blockchain experts)
  • Validate at least 5 community partners

Milestone 2: Milestone 1 : Month 4 (around January 2025) :

Organization :

  • Validate the date and the venue
  • Validate the schedule of the day (panel topics will be fixed but will probably be still possible to change depending on the panelists)

Communication :

  • Find a communication manager (probably someone from the association, but we reserve ourselves the option of taking an external person at our charge)
  • Design a clear communication plan and publishment schedule
  • Give guidelines to create all communication material for LinkedIn posts for the beginning of the schedule
  • Guidelines to create all communication material for Media Partners (Media Kit, Community reduction code, Press Release…)
  • Prepare our website page for this Token for Good edition

Partnerships :

  • Discuss with Paris Blockchain Week’s team for partnering with them on our event
  • Continue to prospect for speakers and moderators for the event to have high-quality panels (target is 10-12 speakers at this moment of the calendar)
  • Continue prospection for sponsors to reach 2 sponsors validated and at least 1 keynote sold
  • Start prospection for Media Partnership

Milestone 3: Milestone 2 : Month 5 (around February 2025) :

Organization :

  • Start to validate panel discussion topics and coordinate with speakers and moderators to ensure good communication
  • Book the venue and Food
  • Prepare merch and goodies for the event
  • Start the ticket sales (end of the month)

Communication :

  • Continue to design every communication material (Sponsors and partners communication material, social posts, Speakers material…)
  • Proposition of our Side Event to PBW’s official page
  • Start to communicate on the event (at the end of the month)

Partnerships :

  • Continue to prospect for speakers and moderators and start to arrive to a full bench of high-quality speakers (target is around 15 to 18 speakers + moderators for 3 panels)
  • Continue to propose media partnerships
  • Continue prospection for sponsors to reach 3-4 sponsors validated and at least 2 keynotes sold (the third one is for Catalyst if funded, otherwise we reserve it for a client to be able to fund or event)

Milestone 4: Milestone 3 : Month 6 (around March 2025) :

Organization :

  • Coordinate with sponsors to ensure the delivery of the sold services (Banners, Roll-up, Merch, Booth…)
  • Every panel discussion and keynote is ready
  • Have everything ready for our part of the operational part
  • Continue and promoting the ticket sales

Communication :

  • Finish to design last communication materials (Depending on newcomers in speakers, sponsors or partners)
  • Mailing for our members and partners to participate
  • Start to launch reduction codes for communities (depending on state of things for tickets sales)
  • Continue to operate the communication schedule publishment
  • Find a Photographer for the event

Partnerships :

  • Have reached our target of 15-18 high-quality speakers and moderators and validated all panel topics
  • Finish to validate media partnerships and conditions of it
  • Reach 5-7 sponsors, of which 2 keynotes and validate their financial support

Milestone 5: Milestone 4 : D-Day (between 8-11 April 2025) :

Organization :

  • Ensure that everything runs well with the Catering team and technical aspects
  • Ensure that sponsors need nothing to run their promotion during the event
  • Coordinate volunteers for the reception of attendees
  • Briefing and assistance to photographer and technical team

Communication :

  • Almost nothing to do in there but some “Live” Posts (2-3 is enough)

Final Milestone: Final Milestone : Month 7 (mid-end April 2025) :

  • Social media posts on post-event insights and appreciations for sponsors
  • Photo delivery to sponsors and speakers
  • Final Catalyst report with data
  • File with all photos is available for everyone

Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Emilie-Alice will be charged with managing partnership relationships with communities, planning and operating communication plans as well as coordinating the team before and during the event. She will also be in charge of managing sponsorships and speaker relationships occasionally.

Gabriel will be charged with reserving the venue and customer satisfaction management, as well as managing the budget in collaboration with our Treasurer. He will also manage merchandising and goodies.

Liâm will be in charge of the relationship with speakers, organizing panel and keynote schedule and topics, managing sponsorships, relationship with media and finding volunteers. He will be in charge of the management of the team occasionally.

Raz will be in charge of accompanying Liâm in his proposal creation, communication, and to be able to reach out to Cardano leaders, as well as the report preparation and closure of the proposal.

Please provide a cost breakdown of the proposed work and resources

The budget estimation we’ve done is around 33000 EUR = 100000 ADA (rate of 0,33 EUR/ADA, that is the average price between 2nd September and 2nd October).

Here is a detailed breakdown :

Consultant work : 10% (10000 ADA)

  • Preparation of the proposal
  • Help with the organisation and reach to some speakers
  • Preparation of the Catalyst ending report

Venue : 10k€ (30500 ADA)

  • Venue renting for one day for 300 persons in Paris
  • Technical team for the running of the event

Food and beverage : 14k€ (42800 ADA)

  • Staff for catering (7-8 people the whole event) : 4k€
  • Catering for 300 people for both the afternoon and a cocktail reception : 10k€

Event unforeseen and peripherical expenses : 5,7k€ (16700 ADA)

  • Rollups and Goodies : 3,4k€
  • Photographer : 1,3k€
  • Other expenses (insurance, security, volunteers defrayal…) : 1k€

No dependencies.

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

Blockchain for Good is a topic that didn’t change in the last few years. A lot is said, but not a lot is done. Cardano is one of the most fast-moving ecosystems on Blockchain for Good and we want to expose this to people that we want to educate on this trend.

By financing this event, Catalyst can help to spread the word on Blockchain for Good, as well as showing how much Cardano is well-positioned on that topic (notably through the Keynote), and all this in the context of a global meeting from Blockchain leaders in Paris Blockchain Week.
