STRENGTHENING FOOD AND NUTRITIONAL RESILIENCE THROUGH PERMACULTURE IN THE KANYARUCHINYA DISPLACED CAMP / NYIRAGONGO TERRITORY

Please describe your proposed solution.

The establishment permanent gardens will resolve the damage perpetrated by the wars which have had serious consequences on the environment, the growth and development of crops on which the survival of households depends. Some have caused the rotting of tubers on the one hand and led to the destruction of almost all the fields of corn and groundnuts, beans on the other hand.

this project will be linked to cardano for several reasons

  • suppliers of vegetable seeds and the beneficiaries will be able to buy in crypto ( ADA)
  • the activity ( permaculture) involves production methods with low environmental impact, that is to say that it respects environmental performance.

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

This project improves food and the availability of income for beneficiaries; Restore ecosystems (soil rehabilitation, erosion control), Strengthen community capacities in the management of natural resources in relation to climate change to promote environmental performance and has just increased the number of ADA users on the few that already exist in the city of Goma in general, more specifically in Nyiragongo territory

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

I will proceed with the following strategies for the materialization of the project:

  • Sale at the farm where consumers can go to the place of production in order to appreciate the quality of the product
  • Creation of markets which will be fixed locations where the products will be sold by the producer himself.
  • Establishment of basket system, this is the case of the opening of stores outside the farm or the activation of home delivery services.
  • I could also enter into regular delivery contracts (weekly, monthly) of a specific quantity of fresh vegetables with the humanitarian aid organizations involved in the distribution of food within the KANYARUCHINYA camp.

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

Identify beneficiaries : 2nd month

Raising awareness among beneficiaries : from second month to sixth month

Train beneficiaries: third month

Provide the project with agricultural inputs : fourth month

Develop permanent gardens: fourth month

Track activities : from the beginning to the end of the project

Evaluate project activities : three sessions for the project

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

I worked for a long time with local development organizations but also with international organizations where I took on several tasks of responsibility such as that of project manager.

apart from that, my university education allowed me to work independently. integrity and honesty are the hallmarks of my professional behavior. I participated in more than 4 workshops organized by Goma Wada Hub to deepen my knowledge on blockchain in general and cardano in particular

What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

The main goal for the project is to sustainably strengthen the resilience of vulnerable households in KANYARUCHINYA by improving their living conditions and their means of subsistence.

This project is feasible because it stems from a real need felt by its beneficiaries and that the beneficiaries are willing to manage the environment well if the socio-economic analysis has been carried out. The environment abounds in local resources and has common local realities.

This project is grafted onto social reality.

Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.
