Palawan is often called the Philippines’ last ecological frontier, home to most of the nation’s remaining forests, its waters are renowned as a global biological hotspot.
On the front line of direct action, below from left to right, are Para-Enforcers Dado, Ipe and Tredez wearing Streets of ADA - A Samsudin Brothers Projek T-Shirts:
With weak or corrupt authorities often unwilling to take on the fight, the Palawan NGO Network Inc (PNNI) seeks to fill the void.
As cash-strapped environmentalists they believe traditional campaigning to save the island’s resources can do little to stop the corruption.
They use a little-known citizen’s arrest law, plus the support of local communities, to confiscate chainsaws, mining drills, cyanide fishing gear and any other equipment used to destroy Palawan’s environment.
The para-enforcers have confiscated more than 800 chainsaws since PNNI was established over three decades ago, according to its founder and leader, environmental lawyer Bobby Chan.
@streetsofada we have partnered with PNNI to support their efforts on the ground through fundraising and community support, and we are developing Art as Activism Proof of Impact NFTs. Streets of ADA is the first project in the multimedia universe made by A Samsudin Brothers Projek.
@Razlosophy and @TR1PL7 founders of @streetsofada were fortunate to have met Paraenforcers and land defenders Dado, Maky, Buddis, we as well as Program Manager Lorie at the Palawan NGO Network Inc. HQ in #Palawan, the #Philippines, as well as Executive Director Attorney Bobby Chan.
They have had their story told in award winning documentary Delikado:
Trailer of Delikado:
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM6pt3L17Bg>It was an honour to meet them. As team leader Dado and mapping specialist Maky led us on a tour through the grounds of the HQ, we could see up close the captured chainsaws, tricycles, buses, boats, fishing equipment, cages, and timber:
Apprehended materials from the missions carried out by the PNNI Paraenforcers to protect the forests, land and sea from illegal deforestation, illegal mining, illegal fishing and wildlife poaching.
- This 'museum' of apprehended artefacts really brought to life the scale of work the team have been able to accomplish over the decades, despite the relentless opposition and limited resources. It hasn't come without losses and costs along the way, including the murder and death of 12 colleagues. Ruben Arzaga, September, Phillipines, was shot in the head as he tried to talk with illegal loggers on Palawan island, a popular tourist destination. Arzaga belonged to the Palawan NGO Network Inc (PNNI), a non-profit group made up of so-called para enforcers that uses a citizen’s arrest law to confiscate equipment that is being used to destroy the island’s environment. Arzaga was the 12th member of the group murdered since 2001.
In our meeting with the team and Attorney Bobby Chan, we discussed plans for 2023 and beyond, and how we can further support their mission to combat illegal logging, mining, fishing and wildlife poaching, within global concerted efforts to tackle climate change for social justice. We explained our proposed solution to them and how Cardano4Good would support their on the ground efforts.
SOLUTION: We are developing first of their kind Proof of Impact NFTs to help raise awareness, build a global community of support, and facilitate the transfer of funds to help support the heroes of Palawan NGO Network Inc. with their ongoing efforts in Palawan, the Philippines.

Streets of ADA - A Samsudin Brothers Projek are working in partnership with Sustainable ADA, Impact Web 3 - Proof of Impact Platform, Domino Dao, Talk to Loop, NMKR, and other supporters in the Philippines and worldwide.
The Proof of Impact NFTs will provide an entry point to the Streets of ADA universe and the work of the Palawan NGO Network Inc. made up of 39 NGOs, providing in real life utility to holders and new joiners as they join the Cardano Community.
We are building an organic, global community that will help raise awareness of the heroic actions of the ecowarriors and activists which we draw inspiration from for the Streets of ADA universe we are developing.
