Optimizing Display Technologies

Please describe your proposed solution.

Anywall and Blockgen will develop optimized display technologies tailor-made for Cardano's digital art ecosystem. Our firmware enhancements and SDKs will enable Anywall's commercial-grade screens to smoothly render even the most complex on-chain art with stunning fidelity.

Rendering generative art requires optimizing script execution. We will develop solutions that may include cached layer outputs and parallelized asset rendering to maximize efficiency. Our rigorous benchmarks will validate hardware specs for minimum 60fps animation.

This will provide the Cardano community with fully-immersive galleries to showcase our world-class generative artists. Anywall's affordable high resolution screens, paired with our optimized firmware, will make these experiences accessible for homes, events, galleries and public spaces.

To spur further innovation, we will open source our firmware and libraries. Our documentation and screened donations will lower barriers for other projects building next-gen Cardano art experiences.

With our 20 years of display engineering and research, we are uniquely positioned to solve these complex rendering challenges. This proposal will ignite a new wave of digital art possibilities for the Cardano ecosystem.

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

This proposal directly addresses the need for infrastructure enabling frictionless experiences with Cardano-native digital art. By optimizing Anywall's display technologies, we remove a major bottleneck to immersive digital art galleries for the community.

Our affordable commercial-grade screens paired with performant rendering will make world-class art accessible to thousands of users in homes, events, galleries and public spaces. We estimate being able to power art display for over 500 screens within 1 year of product rollout.

This will help attract leading and emerging digital artists and collections like Refik Anadol and Art Blocks to Cardano. Art Blocks is amongst the most successful NFT projects ever with over $1 billion in sales. Bringing such creators into the ecosystem will drive adoption.

Beyond users, our open-sourced firmware and libraries will equip developers to more easily build next-gen Cardano art experiences. Our documentation and screens will incubate innovation in the ecosystem.

This proposal brings together an established display manufacturer with deep blockchain expertise to solve a tangible problem limiting mainstream adoption for Cardano digital art. Our development will enable Cardano to lead the way in frictionless digital art experiences.

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

Here are some ways we will measure success for this project:

Quantitative:

  • Number of Anywall screens enabled for digital art display (target 500 in 1 year)
  • Resolution and frame rate benchmarks for rendering sample digital art, including on-chain, 3D and generative artworks
  • Improvement in script execution time from optimizations like caching
  • Amount of documentation/sample code produced and shared with developer community

Qualitative:

  • Feedback from artists on fidelity of displaying their creations
  • Developer community reviews on quality of open source libraries and tools
  • User reviews/testimonials on experience displaying/viewing art with Anywall screens
  • Increase in number of generative artists launching collections on Cardano after product rollout

Short term, we can show technical benchmarks and early user traction. Long term, we hope to demonstrate ecosystem growth via artists and developers supported.

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

  • Documentation, code snippets, and integration guides will be published to developer forums and resources like Project Catalyst's developer portal.
  • 5 Anywall screens will be donated to art galleries and events to showcase the technology. This helps incubate the artist/collector community.
  • Our optimizations and integrations will be packaged into easy-to-use Display SDKs for artists and developers. These kits can kickstart future commercial products.
  • Anywall will utilize the technology internally beyond this proposal for future commercial display products optimized for NFT/metaverse use cases.

We are committed to maximizing community impact by actively sharing outputs after the project concludes. This seeds an ecosystem of innovation.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

  • Extensive experience in display engineering, blockchain development, and visual effects enables us to solve complex rendering challenges.
  • Anywall teams 15+ years delivering commercial display products provides process maturity.
  • Blockgen and Cur8 teams reputation in the Cardano community ensures adherence to ecosystem values.
  • Milestone-based budgeting with community feedback checkpoints prevents waste.
  • Professional project management with defined roles and responsibilities promotes accountability.
  • Partial funding retention until final milestone completion incentivizes meeting commitments.

Our complementary skills, development processes, community ties, and legal agreements aim to provide maximum confidence in successful, accountable, and transparent delivery per the proposal.

What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

Goals:

  • Achieve 60fps animation at 4K resolution for sample generative artworks on Anywall screens
  • Reduce average script execution time by 50% for complex on-chain art through optimizations
  • Develop and publish integration documentation and SDKs
  • Donate 5 screens to showcase technology at Cardano events

Validation Approach:

  • Technical benchmarks on rendering performance pre and post-optimization
  • Analysis of script execution time with and without optimizations like caching
  • Track documentation published and SDKs distributed to quantify reach
  • Collect feedback from artists/developers on integration experience
  • Document screens donated and collect qualitative feedback from events
