Solution

Train students in Plutus and eUTXO in 16 universities world wide. We have been successful with Richfield where we have reached many.

richfield-55935f.png

Most of these are tertiary students coding Cardano Smart Contracts

Problem

tertiary-95f37b.png

Cardano lacks innovators in Plutus and eUTXO. IT students are great innovators in technologies. Yet few universities know about Cardano. Train Cardano Smart Contract to 16 universities world wide

Onboard Tertiary IT Students targeting 16 universities Globally

Please describe your proposed solution

Problem Statement

Many activities for onboarding are short lived: mostly are 1 to 3 day events. Examples are hackathons, 1 day workshops to new attendees. Time is too short for new attendees to understand Cardano Smart Contract development

Proposal

I propose to train tertiary students in Plutus and eUTXO upgrading their web2 skills to web3, also expanding their efficiency in coding through Haskell/Plutus which is a functional programming language.

summit-2023-c3ca02.png

Why do it this way?

Since 2022 I have used Cardano Smart Contracts to upskill Richfield students. It has also made it possible for them to quickly get jobs and even to spend more time doing Cardano Smart Contract development. This is a qualitative effective way of onboarding new Cardano users. If funded people will see many student developers working on Plutus and eUTXO globally.

Who will the project engage?

It will engage IT/Computer Science students in different universities. Target is 16 because at the moment they are joining the programme after seeing others successful.

Visit <https://coxygen.co/live/> and see how students are engaged in live sessions coding plutus

<https://www.youtube.com/@Coxygen/videos>

Image file

The evidence of achievement will be videos of sessions, total number of universities students working on smart contracts, source code on github and a dedicated website showing different universities.

Incentives based on Smart Contract Productivity

Not only do we train students in Plutus but also motivate them to be productive and get incentives like Tee Shirts, Caps, badges, and above all recognition. Only those hard working and productive are incentivised.

Self Reliance

This helps create a pool of productive future needed skills and leads to other income generating activities such as creating a Smart Contract Developer jobs portal.

Summary:

This is a win win effective onboarding activities which priorities quality over quantity. This will grow Cardano in real use cases globally. Students are future innovators and leaders. Therefore training them in Plutus and eUTXO in an interesting way is one of the best strategies for growing Cardano.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

This proposal will have these positive impact on communities and Cardano

  • Promote Cardano in universities

This promotes Cardano, Cardano products and services among tertiary students who are the country's future leaders.

  • Partner with Tertiary Institutions

It makes it possible for tertiary institutions to partner with the Cardano Education System, making Cardano one of universities mainstream blockchains. Students will migrate from web2 to web3 using the Cardano blockchain.

  • Cardano Communities Collaborations

This will also create a future market for Cardano's current and future products and services and enable collaboration among international and continental Cardano communities.

  • Increase Cardano Developer base

It will increase Cardano's developer base, marketers and other staff. Since this will contribute to the national solution of reducing unemployment in developing countries. Cardano will be regarded with high esteem.

  • Promote CIP-1694, Midnight, Hydra technologies

This type of engagement creates long-term sustainable results and increases Cardano use cases. Additionally, it will promote CIP-1694, Midnight and Hydra layer 2 solutions, as students will learn about these Cardano innovations.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

Incorporated and Compliant Companies

WIMS-Cardano activities are successful because they are run under incorporated national companies with reputation: Tobb Techmologies, Coxygen Global, Women In Move Solutions and Satoshi Africa.

We have run Cardano Summits, Events with our own finances before. No reason to be unreliable as we are on Cardano communities growth path

  • Approximately 90% of the financial operations at Cardano Centre Johannesburg are attributed to Tobb Technologies Pty Ltd and Women In Move Solutions Pty Ltd. These operations include rentals, equipment expenses and event costs (e.g., Cardano Summit 2023 Johannesburg) as well as student stipend payments. The Catalyst will support these initiatives, aiding the move towards long-term sustainability and the onboarding of more individuals in South Africa. If we were not intrinsically motivated in Cardano, this would not have happened. Expansion is an inevitable grow for all.

Proof the approach will work is we have managed to run it at a small scale for at least 12 months

  • From 2015 to 2023, we have dedicated ourselves to developing and operating web applications focused on government/municipalities. These applications encompass tasks such as water and electricity meter reading, disconnections/reconnections, pretermination notice deliveries and meter location and verification systems/applications.

We successfully produced commercial applications used nationally and have successfully assisted graduates with employment

  • Through Tobb Technologies Pty Ltd, the IT software development company, we have successfully produced and implemented web applications. These systems have been thoroughly tested across more than 20 districts, resulting in the generation of over 5 million rands in revenue.

We have a reputation to keep with high schools and tertiary institutions we have partnered with e.g. Richfield, Phoenix, Forest, Hope and we have mastered various programming languages

  • The team is composed of full-time and part-time qualified and experienced individuals, working with over 15 different programming languages.

We have been trained in Various Cardano skills

  • We took part in Plutus Pioneer training led by Dr. Lars, received training from Gimbalabs, Haskell certification from Luxembourg University and completed courses on Atala Prism 1 and 2.

Success in running events: Summits(2022,2023), Haskell Hackerthon, CIP-1694, Onboarding

  • We are actually using our own finances and resources to build and grow our Cardano communities because we believe Cardano has the best future in crypto communities.
