Context:
A few years ago we set out for something new in our software developer careers and we stumbled upon the functional programming paradigm (F# and Haskell). The learning journey has brought us so much joy and efficiency both in our personal life and in our careers. One of our core goal is to share that knowledge starting in our local communities (Cameroon) then expanding to the Wada Network. This journey has come with a lot of ups and downs given that we were mostly french speakers and most resources were only in English.
The main takeaways, that are at the core of this proposal:
- Switching to a new programming paradigm and language can be incredibly hard
- Learning a new programming language/paradigm in a language other than your native one makes it even harder
- Training materials that do not take into consideration your local reality is difficult to digest
Solution:
Our solution is very simple and straightforward. We want to recreate all 3 programs / courses and core documentation in French.

Making this invaluable material available in French will not only attract more developers to the Cardano ecosystem, but also will ease their on-boarding process and learning curve.
--
One risk is that once the course materials are translated into French, there is not enough interest in it or support for those who do engage (given that Haskell / Plutus learning curve could be steep for object oriented programmers). We will mitigate this risk by making sure we offer extra support available to the French learners through Wada's education initiative and Hackathon projects funded in previous round 7.
