(https://www.odoo.com,) formerly openCRM, is an Open Source solution of business applications with more that 7 millions users and adopted from startups to large enterprises. It holds dozens of applications such as CRM, Point of Sales, eCommerce, accounting, inventory and invoicing.
The open-source development model of Odoo leveraged thousands of developers that provided more than 10,000 plugins and applications. However, there's only a few non-popular plugins that allow the system to accept payment in cryptocurrencies.
ADA PAY is the perfect fit to be included in the available plugins and make payments with ADA accepted by millions of users.
This proposal is to build the plugin that integrates ADA Pay with Odoo with the goal of generating impact in Cardano by:
- providing a ready to use plugin available to all integrators of Odoo platform
- allowing ADA holders to pay with ADA in platforms based on Odoo
- allowing millions users to know that payments with ADA are accepted and to discover a new world of payment options
- making Odoo implementors aware of ADA plugin and Cardano by transitivity
- strengthening the relationship between COTI and Cardano
PROJECT PLAN
This project is the development of the Odoo plugin for ADA Pay that consists of the following activities:
- Setup an Odoo environment for development and testing
- Get and interiorize in ADA Pay API
- Develop a payment plugin for Odoo
- Integrate ADA Pay API into the plugin
- Test plugin
- Publish plugin
- Demo
The project duration is estimated in six weeks with the following breakdown:
- one week for environment setup and API understanding
- two weeks of plugin development
- two weeks of API integration
- one week of testing and demo
BUDGET
The budget consists primarily of development hour costs plus the development environment setup. Budget breakdown is as follow:
- environment setup plus cloud costs: USD 500
- plugin development (70 hours at $100/hr): USD 7,000
- ADA Pay API integration (70 hours at $100/hr): USD 7,000
- testing and demo (30 hours at $100/hr): USD 3,000
TOTAL BUDGET: USD 17,500
PROJECT TRACKING
The project implementation will follow Agile management based on Jira Cloud tools. Jira users can be created for follow up and auditability. Additionally, a bi-weekly report will be published with project progress, major milestones and risk assessment.
The plugin is the main deliverables that constitute the metric of progress and success:
Intermediate progress will be reported as Spring Burndown, a KPI metric that shows the progress of each development sprint. Additionally, the development will be managed in a public github repository where periodic commits will be pushed and that allow the community to audit and validate the work.
We've also determined the following KPIs:
- Environment setup Sprint Burndown
- Plugin development Sprint Burndown
- ADA Pay integration Sprint Burndown
- Testing Sprint Burndown
- Plugin availability in Odoo store
RISK ASSESSMENT
There is an intrinsic risk due to the fact that ADA Pay API is not known at time of writting this proposal. We have assumed that API integration won't deviate from traditional integration and process. However, if something moves away from the plan, we will use part of the budget to acquire the expertise needed to cope with the challenge.
