Learn 2 Earn, CA Can Be a Good Job!

-----------------------------------------

In the words of Apple Think Different! (about project Catalyst). Imagine how directly impactful the Cardano Treasury could be transforming Project Catalyst needs into potentially life changing jobs. For homemakers with no other place to turn to earn essential income. Now working for the community as Community Assessors.

This proposal simply leverages a steadily growing community need (greater numbers of honest, thoughtful assessments) and turns that need into a job creation program.

Reaching out to talented, educated homemakers in poorer economies. Showing them how they can earn supplemental income, working from home as a Project Catalyst Community Advisor. Inviting them to learn how to assess proposals according to the recommended format.

Creating a platform that curates and presents educational material assembled by the many active sources in our Catalyst community, such as The Catalyst School, and others.

Watch our introductory video here:

This f8 proposal is an exploratory (not implementing) proposal, modest budget, with the goals of

1). figuring out how a global outreach could work (after thinking more, its not a simple proposition & involve substantial effort, money and network building)

2). producing 3 kinds of outreach media that is generic to the idea -

a. marketing videos (aimed at finding partnering organisations who will help promote the opportunity )

b. videos to invite homemakers to be CAs,

c. explainer videos (teaching how to be a CA as a job).

3). deciding where to look for CA's, and how

4). deciding and maybe designing the Learn 2 Earn platform (website etc).

Once a plan has been designed, the team will make an implementation proposal in Fund 9/10. Building on the Fund8 CA Catalyst community experience.

Project Catalyst plans for a large increase in the number of proposals, and hopes to grow the number of assessments per proposal. So far, the number of proposals has grown arithmetically.

What happens if news of a $20,000,000 Fund (we are close) results in exponential growth in the number of proposals?

A limited number of Community Advisors could be an impediment to those plans. Catalyst might need a mechanism to produce exponential growth in the numbers of CA's to match the workload.

At the same time, well educated, skilled people - mainly homemakers - living in very low income economies, are hungry for ways to earn income to support their families. Opportunities to work from home, when time is available, are very attractive for this group.

The work of a Project Catalyst Community Advisor creates that opportunity. There is no need for these people to get involved much more deeply in Cardano. But, most probably, after experience as a CA, they would become full community members.

Currently discussing strategies with people living in Ghana as a launch site. But open to any other country, anywhere. Anyone experienced in the NGO industry who can offer introductions, please do so.

Open to collaboration with persons from any country.

The main challenges for on boarding CA's include:

Risk Category 1). Creating an effective outreach program (The sole purpose of this Proposal is to avoid, if possible, mitigate and manage the obstacles of a geographically extensive outreach program. Following the adage: "Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance")

Risk Category 2). Language skills are a critical factor in being a successful CA, Both in understanding the proposals and in communicating the assessment. The Learn 2 Earn Program will have to screen for English language skills - to begin with, But then explore translation solutions as Project Catalyst moves towards truly international, more inclusive posture,

Risk Category 3). Availability of internet connectivity can be a hindrance to prospective CA's being able to work from home. Internet access will limit to some degree those who can participate. At this time it is a constraint more than a risk.

Risk Category 4). Options to convert ADA rewards to fiat. Since the main objective is to help homemakers earn additional income, if not considered as savings, there must be a cost effective, convenient mechanism to convert earnings into spendable income.

Risk Category 5). Failure to gain implementation funding from Project Catalyst community in Fund 9/10. If that happens, the committee guiding the Learn 2 Earn program will solicit community support through direct donations for project implementation. Perhaps reaching out to SPOs to provide support as well.

Risk Category 6). Change in Project Catalyst system that eliminates the CA position or ceases to reward CA work would require the Learn 2 Earn program to Pivot to still meet its primary goal, helping talented homemakers earn additional income to support their families. Perhaps in different blockchain ecosystems where Governance processes still require community participation.

--------------------------------

This proposal is for a short term, 12 week effort to

  • procure 3 introductory videos to seek partnering organisations, introduce the opportunity to potential CA's and to teach new CA's how to make good and excellent assessments
  • identify and describe the dimensions of an effective outreach program and
  • create a feasible plan to implement the program
  • identify operational costs
  • design a way for the program to be financially self sustaining (beyond more than two or three rounds of Catalyst funding)
  • identify the most appropriate form and place of registration (probably NGO of some sort).

The end deliverable would be a Project Implementation Plan produced by a cooperative effort of the Co-Proposers (and others who would like to contribute).

Work in progress would be open to the community during the implementation period. Documented in a GitBook webpage and swarm sessions and Miro boards.

--------------------------------

--------------------------------

The budget is simple.

The estimated $15,700 is comprised of payment for the three videos planned @$5,000 per video average plus the introductory video included $700. If that budget is not used additional videos will be produced.

Co-Proposers will contribute their efforts as volunteers.

At the end of the period, any remaining funds will be donated to some ADA based cause, as decided by the Co-Proposers.

--------------------------------

--------------------------------

Open to additional team members who have relevant skills, networks to contribute to outreach. This proposal is not the technical platform, it is to design an outreach to persons in need. Key talents would be ability to reach, home makers (mostly women) in poor countries of the world, Africa, Latin and South America, SE Asia.

A multi-media Project Implementation Plan to serve as the core of a fund 9/10 proposal that the catalyst community will agree to fund. Plus three promotional videos one to introduce the Learn 2 Earn opportunity to potential partnering organisations. One to introduce the opportunity to potential CA's. And a third explainer video for teaching how to be a successful CA.
