Solution

We propose to have Konma host hackathons where groups of developers come together and develop smart contracts and Dapps as per challenges. This will help bring in more Haskell devs into the ecosystem

Problem

Although Cardano has risen up to an established smart contract platform, the free developer cohort is still lagging behind. there is lack of awareness on haskells capabilities to the web3 ecosystem.

KodeKlash Hackathon

Please describe your proposed solution.

We propose to conduct hackathons by providing challenges and having them directly take part in developing apps, oracles and smart contracts. The aim is to have a collaborative effort from various types of developers to develop any type of SDK or product which can be used as a boilerplate for future projects . we will aim to provide challenge briefs for CIP improvements , PAB improvements and provide materials used for building frameworks and protocols

Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

  • Conducting hackathons helps individuals from all over the world to team up and collaborate.
  • This increased widespread awareness among developers to synergize and make products.
  • More devs are brought into the ecosystem.
  • more code base in opensource libraries to fork and work on
  • extended awareness in universities and colleges that help with realizing true potential of Haskell
  • we will primarily target institutes that teach Haskell in their curriculum and upskill them on Plutus
  • we will open to doors for all developers from all around the world

What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

  • Lack of developers synergizing.
  • Conducting team based challenges will help address this.
  • Auditing for Plutus and Haskell for successful deployment.
  • We can bring in Haskell and Plutus experts to audit the projects.
  • Not enough documentation and community support to help teams deliver.
  • Simultaneously build repositories and supporting documents and updating the documents regularly.

Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

6 months period - 24 weeks - 12 sprints (1 sprint = 2 weeks)

  • Sprint 1: provide guidelines and challenges
  • sprint 2: open konmahood to host devs for discussion and synergising
  • sprint 3: bringing developer experts with in the ada chain
  • sprint 4: initial product proposal
  • sprint 5: proof of concept
  • sprint 6: bringing in more developer experts for Q&A and AMA
  • sprint 7: final proposal
  • sprint 8 & 9 : core development
  • sprint 10: initial review
  • sprint 11: dev experts review and judge projects
  • sprint 12: defining winners and prize distribution

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

50,000$ as prize pool for winners

8,000$ for marketing(6 Months)

12,000$ for developer experts onboarding

10,000$ develop konma infrastructure to host projects and sessions

Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Yes, if we deem to be a success we will come back for KodeKlash V 2.0 which will be a bigger and better state of the art hackathon for the Cardano ecosystem

Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

  • Have 10+ source codes from various projects readily available on the KonmaOpenLib for the community
  • 20+ pull requests and 40+ branches on GitHub
  • Have projects and other hackathons and companies to help with increasing more available boiler plate of code base
  • number of teams
  • number of projects
  • number of winners

What does success for this project look like?

  • Have at least 10+ Teams take part in various challenges spread across the Cardano ecosystem
  • Have a minimum of 6+ projects delivered - these projects will then be opensource for the community to use
  • fund at least 2+ projects out of the successful delivered projects
  • have at least 4+ tech collaborators to judge from the Cardano ecosystem (snapbrillia, IOG, Gimbalabs, Mlabs etc)

Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This proposal was initially proposed in Project Catalyst Fund 8 under Developer Ecosystem Challenge it was successfully voted, but was not funded. this time we aim to let the community know more on what the whole purpose of KodeKlash.
