Please describe your proposed solution.
Perceived Problem :
During the building of the Indonesian Cardano community, numerous companies from start-ups (e.g. Bitzenius, Wyndblast) to million dollar companies (e.g. Sena) look to build on top of Cardano, <u>one common blocking factor was the lack of devs.</u>
Specifically devs that are aligned with the economic standards and regulations in this region or in simpler terms ; more affordable.
Reasons of Our Approach :
This lack of devs not only limits Cardano's adoption, it naturally lends existing devs to become too costly for companies to hire. High human resource expense + limited potential market/userbase deters companies and start-ups to develop on Cardano. Look no further than the numerous closings of early adopter dApps that built on Cardano.
Viewing this on a macro scale, having limited and costly devs alienates potential users from emerging economies market, a market that has a tendency to more easily accept new technologies. What happens is all becomes <u>dependent of the existing pool of devs</u>, as a result <u>adoption growth is limited and slowly becomes susceptible to be overtaken by other blockchain's technological and user base progression.</u>
Projects Forecasted Users :
The challenge here is first being honest, the language to build on Cardano is still categorized as difficult. Established devs are paid well enough that many choose to not bother learning to build on Cardano. Add to that the factors mentioned above. Therefore starting early is crucial, targeting the source of these devs, which are educational institution is our goal.
This goal has already been limitedly proven by the Eastern Town Hall, where the Indonesian team targets general users and the Viet Nam team targets students. After operating for roughly 1 (one) year the results was an overwhelming "win" by the Viet Nam team.
A consistent 20-30 proposals each Fund are submitted where majority are from students, devs and lecturers <u>with 5 (five) new dApps created</u>. In comparison to their Indonesian counterparts of only 3-6 proposals each Fund from general users <u>with no dApps yet created.</u>
> We believe a large pool of devs = more accessible talent pool = increased adoption = increased potential of industry breaking dApps solutions = increased potential market/user and repeat
Demonstrating Our Impact :
To achieve our belief above is through an end-to-end free education pipeline starting from the integration of Cardano Foundation's Blockchain Education Alpha continuing into the <u>integration of Plutus Project Based Learning (PPBL) ver. 2.0</u> into the existing curriculum/extracurricular activities of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and culminating into <u>the integration of Catalyst School ver. 2.0 as a Project Catalyst onboarding platform</u>.
All of which are a precursor to the development of an Open-Source Dev Learning Management System called Andamio. From the learning process above, students will then practice their learnings by developing a sectioned module of Andamio.
To entice these students to develop Andamio, we will be using a mix between bounties and token distribution as a form of participation. By showing this token of participation, it will act as a precursor to indicate to industries/entities/companies that the pool of students in Andamio are industry ready talent.
This is our end goal ;
> An end-to-end free education pipeline that is native to Cardano that connects Cardano with a consistent pool of students, educated by devs from the Cardano community to practice building on real Cardano use-cases and leveraging the network of Cardano Town Halls to attract industries/entities/companies.
>
> All these processes will be automated and on-chain through the completed Andamio Learning Management Systems done by a mix of the Cardano community and Andamio founders.
Our Solutions :
- Training by Gimbalabs of it's Indonesian chapter, which will then subsequently educate UGM students/lecturers and local devs from the community
- Gimbalabs one-to-one sessions to Indonesian counterparts if needed (@4 sessions per month)
- Translate PPBL into Indonesian as the main learning resources - which will available on the current Gimbalabs LMS platform
- Provide subtitles to the PPBL video tutorials for those who seek to learn on their own pace - which will available on the current Gimbalabs LMS platform
- Gimbalabs : Chapter Indonesia will provide workshops for UGM students/lecturers and local devs community (16 workshops @2 per month) spanning a duration of 8 (eight) months - which will be uploaded on Gimbalabs YouTube channel
- Gimbalabs : Chapter Indonesia will have live coding sessions (64 hours @2 hours per week) to support and answer questions from UGM students/lecturers and the local devs community spanning a duration of 8 (eight) months - which will be uploaded on Gimbalabs YouTube channel
- Have students of UGM and local devs community to implement their learnings through PPBL paid bounties that completes a section of the Open-Source Dev Learning Management System called Andamio
- Integrate the end-to-end education pipeline as a part of <u>UGM's Cardano Learning Experience</u> in the form of a curriculum/extracurricular in cross-collaboration with UGM student body entities such as :
- Keluarga Mahasiswa Teknik Mesin UGM (Mechanical Engineering Student Body)
- Keluarga Mahasiswa Teknik Elektro dan Teknologi Informatika UGM (Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Student Body)
- Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Industri UGM (Industrial Engineering Student Body)
- Cendekia Teknika FT UGM (Faculty of Engineering Student Body)
- Provide dedicated Discord/Telegram channel in Gimbalabs and Cardano Indonesia community channels to continuously support and answer questions from the UGM students/lecturers and local devs community spanning a duration of 8 (eight) months
How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?
Resource Stream :
By collaborating with Gadjah Mada University (UGM) ensures our envisioned end-to-end education pipeline produces a stream of potential new devs that can be harnessed by the larger Cardano community to potentially IOG, Cardano Foundation and Emurgo.
Open Source :
Gimbalabs Plutus Project Based Learning (PPBL) ver. 2.0 is itself open-source and accessible for everyone. Through the translation of it's syllabus and potential integration to existing UGM curriculum/extracurricular will provide students/lecturers and local devs a clear progression structure to learn Plutus through a Project Based Learning approach.
Structured Documentation :
These progressions are sectioned into a number of modules, the intent is for the learning curve to be gradual and for each module to be updated independently and accordingly to the topic intended to be learnt, which in this case is Cardano. Though, through Andamio the topic can easily be changed into other chains or other needs of a industries/entities/companies/dApps.
Multiple Alignments :
With Gimbalabs PPBL ver. 2.0, UGM students/lecturers and local devs will have access to a multitude of existing open source Cardano dev libraries to understand multiple methods to build dApps on top of Cardano. This conscious integration and communication will increase adoption and exposure of known Cardano open source projects, such as ; Lucid, Mesh, Cardano cli-js, etc.
Fusing UGM/Local Devs :
On top of that, our students and local devs community will be creating modular section of Gimbalabs Open-Source Dev Learning Management System called Andamio, where in its final form can be either adjusted, duplicated and implemented by the Cardano community. <u>The goal of Andamio is to connect talents and those who need talents, such as entities/companies/projects.</u>
> In a world of 8 billion people, why is there such a thing as a “talent shortage.”
> - James Dunseith, Founder of Andamio
Therefore our efforts will increase the growth of devs, potentially increase the growth of dApps through Project Catalyst funding, increase opportunities and possibilities for devs either through consistent Project Catalyst funding or being identified as qualified affordable devs by the community and increase project(s) exposure by signaling the need of talents through Andamio.
Value to Cardano :
Most of all this end-to-end education pipeline of ; Cardano Foundation's Blockchain Education Alpha + Gimbalabs PPBL ver 2.0 + Catalyst School ver. 2.0 + Andamio, can then be an option to simply "copy+paste" and present to universities worldwide.
Andamio as a stand alone dApps by Gimbalabs, as previously suggested can cater to the needs of the users, whether that be industries/entities/companies/dApps. It is modular, automated and on-chain Learning Management System that develops from each user interaction. Rendering it agile and easily applicated.

Integration with Future RND :
Quantity and quality of participation in Gimbalabs : Chapter Indonesia can then be a benchmark to compare with other existing and future free education materials on Cardano where the major difference between what Gimbalabs offer with other platforms is their method of education.
Gimbalabs method is a project based learning on Plutus. Simply put, learning by doing. In comparison other available materials, such as that provided by IOG, are more focused to holistic theoretical learnings that are better suited for academic research.
<u>By having these 2 (two) different methods we can then compare the completion level between programs and the final destination of students</u>, whether they are employed or become researchers in some form or worst case scenario ; unemployed uninspired.
Hence, Cardano community can then fine tune their strategy for mass adoption on the education front. Although in terms of learnings from education efforts, the Eastern Town Hall has provided a limited sample we can learn from, which shows there is validity in doing a larger sample.
Understanding who to target and what to expect when targeting a specific demography will temper expectations from the Cardano community. Based on the Eastern Town Hall report, collaborating with universities potentially will yield the most devs and proposal output in comparison to general public, but there is always that small possibility of an out-of-the box idea from the general public.
This though has not taken factor to the geographic location of the education target. Perhaps Eastern Town Hall results are isolated to East Asian regions? <u>This accentuates the importance of leveraging the collective and local knowledge that is held within Town Halls.</u>
Town Halls operators, educated on their potential and provided structure will yield global data. Hence, the larger picture that Gimbalabs : Chapter Indonesia is part of, which the is the creation of an end-to-end education pipeline of ; Cardano Foundation's Blockchain Education Alpha + Gimbalabs PPBL ver 2.0 + Catalyst School ver. 2.0 + Andamio, is potentially game changing and will provide Cardano a plethora of data.
This collaboration with Gadjah Mada University is a precursor to that. Done well, documented well can then be an option to simply "copy+paste" and present to universities worldwide. That is only from the perspective of education. <u>Andamio in it's final form, has applications far reaching than only education.</u>
