About Football Club Barcelona

The Football Club Barcelona (Barça) is the world's third most valuable football club, worth $5.51 billion. FC Barcelona's supporters own and operate the club, unlike many other football clubs. As of May 2023, FC Barcelona has 150,317 memberships, called socis, and 1,264 officially registered fan clubs, called penyes. The fan clubs promote the club in their locality and receive beneficial offers when visiting Barcelona. FC Barcelona is one of the most widely supported teams in the world. It has one of the largest social media followings among sports teams, with over 114 million Facebook fans as of December 2021.

1. Enrollment. Interested participants (ideally current Barça Discord community managers) enroll in the program and receive a Web3 token to access the Barça/Andamio platform training.

2. Training. Future trainers will participate in structured sessions, learning about educational methodologies like project-based learning and student learning targets and the benefits of applying them to content creation.

3. Content creation. Trainers use their new skills to create a course outline and interactive content suitable for a digital learning environment.

4. Barça Vision Approval. The Barça Vision team reviews and approves the educational content created, ensuring it meets academic standards and is aligned with Barça’s goals and objectives.

5. Rewards &amp; Credentials. Upon completion and approval of the content, trainers receive rewards and on-chain credentials that allow them to opt into ‘trainer-specific’ contribution opportunities.

Workshops with the Cardano ecosystem

As this is the first step toward collaboration, this proposal will include several sessions between the Barça Vision team and relevant companies in the Cardano ecosystem. The process will be coordinated with the Andamio team and the local hubs. The idea is to have at least ten companies from the ecosystem involved in potential sessions/discussions for collaboration.

Future plans for the social network infrastructure

Multiple directions will be considered during the project and going forward. Here are some examples:

• Connecting to reputation governance decisions (e.g., voting), we are interested in exploring potential synergies with Hermes and Catalyst voices.
• NFT - marketplace for community members who received NFTs as part of their rewards
• Different ecosystem product integrations - i.e., wallets - this integration will also consider a revenue model.

This project marks the beginning. We will evaluate various options to broaden the scope of this proposal and other Web 3-related opportunities.

Barça's vision will consider multiple revenue opportunities to continue building on the solution and growing the collaboration in the future.

1. Global Brand Integration with Cardano

FC Barcelona, a global powerhouse valued at $5.51 billion and with a worldwide fanbase, offers an unparalleled platform for the Cardano ecosystem. This partnership is not just about technology but global recognition and impact. By reaching millions of fans worldwide, we can significantly boost Cardano's brand recognition and adoption, opening up a world of possibilities.

The Football Club Barcelona is a globally recognized brand involved in various Web3 initiatives, including the $BAR Fan token. This token provides FC Barça fans with exclusive perks, benefits, and voting rights on club choices. It is one among many Web3 and blockchain projects in its portfolio, participating in blockchain platforms such as Chiliz, Celo, and Polygon, and we are looking forward to collaborating with the Cardano Ecosystem.

2. Barça to empower their Discord community using Cardano

FC Barcelona currently has 70k active members on its Discord and is looking for a Web3 solution to help it provide impactful opportunities for this community.

When Barça launched its Discord channel, it gained 40,000 users in just one day. Since the channel management system was not fully established then, Barça decided to keep the channel's activity low. However, the plan is to attract millions of fans to the Barça Discord channel, aiming to make it one of the top sports entities on the platform, surpassing entities like FIFA (111k) and Manchester United (94k). The ultimate goal is to direct followers from other social media platforms where the club has a much larger presence, such as Instagram (127M) and Twitter (49M), and to position the team to become the biggest server on Discord.

FC Barcelona is turning to Cardano-based Web3 solutions to achieve this ambitious goal. The Andamio platform will provide the necessary infrastructure to onboard FC Barcelona to the Cardano blockchain, offering the Discord community opportunities to acquire new skills and earn credentials. This will enable members to access contribution opportunities, enhancing engagement through practical and transformative applications of Cardano's blockchain technology.

In addition, NMKR's NFT infrastructure will support a robust rewards mechanism, using a significant portion of the budget for contributions in ADA, thereby promoting adoption. The project's ultimate aim is to connect and collaborate with various Cardano communities in focus countries, driving a deeper integration between FC Barcelona's global fanbase and the Cardano ecosystem.

By providing skills training, contribution opportunities, and on-chain rewards, this project enhances fan engagement and positions FC Barcelona to become the biggest sports server on Discord. Moreover, it demonstrates how blockchain technology can create impactful and lasting connections within a global community, bridging the gap between traditional sports engagement and innovative digital solutions.

3. Empowering Communities and Promoting Equality

The Barça Vision project is more than just a technological endeavor. It's a commitment to equality and sustainability, focusing on empowering women and emerging markets. By training and empowering women in tech and engaging with communities in developing countries, we are not just bridging the gender gap but also fostering economic development. This project inspires change and aligns perfectly with Cardano's mission of creating a positive global impact through blockchain technology.

The plan emphasizes the inclusion of women, technology, sustainability, and reaching out to developing countries globally. This strategic plan will increase fan engagement worldwide and create new opportunities for the club to explore new markets and ventures.

Women's empowerment is strategically important for FC Barcelona and could create massive traction on our Discord server. Alexia Putellas, acclaimed as the best female football player, plays for Barça and has inspired millions of women worldwide. She has consecutively won the Golden Ball twice and recently lifted her second treble. Leading in La Liga, the Copa de la Reina, and the Supercopa, she plays a pivotal role in the Champions League and the World Cup with the Spanish national team, as well as Aitana Bonmatí, the MVP of both the World Cup and Champions League, has also achieved significant success with Barça. She is known for her consistent leadership and dramatically contributes to the team's accomplishments. FC Barcelona Women, supported by record-breaking fan attendance (+91k), continues to make history and strives for continental dominance in the Champions League. Together, Alexia and Aitana have left an indelible mark on women's soccer, driving the exceptional success of Barça Women.

Sustainable and Transparent Practices. Collaborating with Plastiks, a leading environmental organization, to promote sustainability through plastic credits exemplifies using blockchain for environmental good. This partnership will involve a blockchain-based plastic credit system to incentivize and reward sustainable practices. This initiative aligns with Cardano's values of sustainability and innovation, showcasing the blockchain's capability to support and enhance global sustainability efforts.

We have been collaborating with Plastiks.io for the last two years, and they introduced us to the Cardano ecosystem.

Skill Development and Economic Opportunities. The project offers significant educational and economic benefits to the Barça community. It will provide comprehensive training in blockchain/Cardano technology, content creation, and community management, equipping participants with valuable skills for the digital age. Additionally, the project will create new economic opportunities by developing blockchain-based services and products. This skill development and economic empowerment benefits individuals and strengthens the broader Cardano ecosystem by creating a more knowledgeable and engaged user base.

The Barça Vision management team will lead and coordinate the work on this proposal. Barça Vision is the team within the Barça organization responsible for Web3 and the Discord channel.
