European Cardano Community Town Hall - Operation

Please describe your proposed solution.

on Cardano within the European community. Our solution leverages the European Cardano Community Town Hall as a central hub, facilitating collaboration, focusing on and exchanging information about EU regulation, and overcoming language barriers. By engaging key stakeholders, including Stake Pool Operators (SPOs), project teams, community members, and policymakers, our platform fosters knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, and addresses the unique needs of projects building on Cardano in Europe.

Through regular meetings featuring guests from prominent Cardano projects and organizing multilingual Twitter spaces, we ensure inclusivity, broad participation, and cater to diverse linguistic needs. This approach enables us to connect with regional values, drive adoption of Cardano within Europe, and provide a platform for projects building on Cardano to network and share insights.

Utilizing impact measurement tools and feedback mechanisms, we will demonstrate the tangible outcomes of our platform, including increased collaboration among projects building on Cardano, improved knowledge about local regulatory compliance, and enhanced growth of the Cardano ecosystem in Europe. By offering a centralized platform that facilitates networking, knowledge sharing, and strategic alignment, our solution amplifies Cardano's visibility, adoption, and influence in the European market, strengthening its position as a leading blockchain platform.

Furthermore, we will actively foster alignment and collaboration with other regional Town Halls, such as the Eastern Town Hall and LATAM Town Hall, promoting cross-regional knowledge sharing and driving synergistic growth within the global Cardano community.

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

As the platform that EuCardano is now, we already provide an open platform for established and new projects either based or operating also in Europe. Amongst others, we had as our guests in the likes of:

Image file

This is just a small list of the amazing people and projects that we had with us in our Town Hall.

In addition, we also had alignments with the other regional groups, for example:

Image file

Our goal is to expand on what we have already proven; connecting founders, providing insights to their projects and nurture the ground for fruitful discussions around their realms.

We strongly believe, that providing this extra information, we can elevate the discussions around projects to a mature level, liberated of speculation or witch-hunting. As these projects will be interconnected with “regular” users and other founders, their ecosystem and as such the Cardano ecosystem will grow and bond stronger.

With support for this community proposal we will be able to unlock at least four languages spoken in Europe and hence cover the vast majority of the continent.

Our community will find and co-create information regarding, but not exclusively related around EU topics. This Proposal were submitted in F10: Catalyst Open Challenge: Since Our proposal is not specifically related to the SPO tech community/activities, and apart from the Catalyst Fund Operations challenge, there is no other challenge focusing on building a Networking space like the European Cardano Community or funding operations like these. We are neither a start-up nor have the mechanisms of a DAO. As such we choose this challenge as it seems to fit best for what we are trying to accomplish.

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

Our main intent is focusing on providing the exploration experience of Cardano the ecosystem in a nutshell. This requires at least two levels of description outputs:

  1. A birds eye view to understand the general intention and scope of a project
  2. A practical hands-on approach to understand how to utilize or interact with the project

With those levels of explanations at hand we’ll provide both, a quick entry point and a low-barrier connection into projects for investors, builders, and users.

These are some measures that we will track, to measure the interest of the events performed.

  • sign-ups via Discord invites or other measurable links
  • number of project profiles in the EuCardano Discord
  • users attending our spaces / TH
  • retweets of recordings after a YT publication
  • activity on GitHub for research projects
  • number of endorsements of participants/companies

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

We will share our findings and outputs on our website, which is hosted at GitBook on the community plan.

GitBook allows us to co-create on an open-source basis. As GitBook can be naturally connected with GitHub, the accessibility barriers for the community will be very low.

Our open-source approach allows the community to participate publicly and transparently in our issues. We expect an extension of our work, given the current activity of the Cardano community.

While we still see the challenge of getting yourself exposed to the public as a contributor, with GitBook we can at least provide a less technical experience than GitHub. And we are known to keep things extremely inclusive so that everyone should feel invited to participate.

New updates on GitHub issues can be linked from posts on Twitter.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

The core team of the European Cardano Community Town Hall (ECC) is composed by the following individuals:

  • Davide Lucchesi
  • Marcus Ubani
  • Mauro Andreoli
  • Ricardo Burgos

Since the inception of the ECC the members have dedicated time and resources in order to plan, execute and publish the Town Hall Meetings and the Twitter Spaces in multiple languages. Our detailed profiles (see section below) contain information on the background of the respective member and other projects and initiatives they have been involved with.

The following process will be established in order to ensure that the community funds are managed in a proper and transparent manner:

  • Creation of a multi-signature wallet
  • Definition of workflows including documentation of payouts
  • Publishing of monthly reports showing inflows and outflows

All transactions will be done from/to the multi-sig wallet and the respective justification for outflows will be recorded on-chain.

If there would be a counter-argument then this could be done via a single tx into the ECC treasury wallet, containing the statement in the metadata.

What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

These are some measures that we will track, to measure the interest of the events performed.

  • sign-ups via Discord invites or other measurable links
  • number of project profiles in the EuCardano Discord
  • users attending our spaces / TH
  • retweets of recordings after a YT publication
  • activity on GitHub for research projects
  • number of endorsements of participants/companies

[Goal Nr. 1] Increase the number of participants in our Town Hall Zoom calls; Target Value: 30

[Goal Nr. 2] Increase the number of users (non-bots :)) in our Discord Server; Target Value: 500

[Goal Nr. 3] Increase the number of daily active users in our Discord Server; Target Value: 20

[Goal Nr. 4] Increase the number of participants in the local language Twitter spaces; Target Value: 15 participants in average

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

Our Town Hall enables creators, SPO, project teams and blockchain enthusiasts to exchange information about Cardano and learn from each other on a regular basis and thus creating a knowledge base for continuously expanding the ecosystem.

By setting a strong focus on language diversity we contribute to the adoption of Cardano in more and more countries.

The cost planning premises are based on a symbolic compensation for the team members, and extended team members (e.g. those hosting Twitter Spaces).

The average wage in the EU for IT architects, programmers, etc. is approx. 65 EUR/hour.

We create value by offering a platform in a friendly and relaxed environment where the blockchain enthusiasts can connect directly to the project teams.

Also - this proposal helps the founders of EU Town Hall to recover from the opportunity cost of not working only on their own projects - thereby sustaining the platform and communication channels for the broader Cardano Community.
