Solution

To organise four (4) regional events to educate, develop and onboard 200 people with diverse backgrounds with the Skills of Voting, dReps and vote delegation to dRep through educational events.

Problem

Most Conferences in Ghana neither cover the ideas of dRep nor does it provide participants with the skills to participate in voting rounds and how to delegate their votes, leaving a gap for dRep.

dReps Onboarding: Empowering Cardano Ghana Community

Please describe your proposed solution.

OVERVIEW

Delegate Representatives (dReps)

The introduction of dReps is another exciting step forward as the community continues to learn and grow. Delegation enables ADA holders to delegate their voting power to one or many dReps. This allows the more passive voter a chance to continue to have their voice heard, but now across more proposals than they could personally read and evaluate.

These dReps will vote on the vast majority of proposals within Project Catalyst, and in turn will enhance the quality of decision making within each Fund. dReps will coordinate and form policies together, source and review data, consult with experts, and ultimately vote on an array of projects and topics that the community has brought forward.

dRep onboarding is a set of educational events to be hosted at four (4) regions in Ghana to introduce and promote the ideas of dRep integration and vote delegation. These events seek to educate the Cardano Ghana community on the ideas of dRep, Proper Voting and vote delegation. This is to empower the community with content and tools in voting, considering proposals and dRep.

IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY

dRep onboarding will be a one-day event to be hosted at the targeted four (4) regions on the topics;

· Introduction to Voting

· Introduction to dRep

· Individual voting and vote delegating to dRep

· How to Delegate vote to dRep

· How to Become dRep

· Benefits of vote delegation to dRep

Although voting is not new in Cardano and Catalyst but dRep is a new role. Indeed, not many people really know what dRep is, how to delegate their vote to dRep, and the knowledge and skills needed to become a dRep.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community.

As the number of proposals increases, so does the community’s responsibility to both review and vote upon them. To ensure that all proposals gain the attention they deserve, and to facilitate continued growth, a new system is required to ensure sustainability. Onboarding 200 diverse people from Cardano Ghana Community will help to ensure all proposals get fair review and votes.

Onboarding people to participate in Cardano blockchain governance will have a significant impact on the overall effectiveness of Cardano Blockchain. Here are some potential impacts;

Decentralization and Security

Onboarding a diverse group of participants enhances decentralization, which is a fundamental principle of Cardano blockchain. This will help in distributing power and decision-making across the network, making it more resistant to attacks and censorship. Indeed, poorly executed onboarding process of dreps may lead to centralization if a small group gains excessive influence or control over the governance mechanisms.

Education and Skill Development

The onboarding events will serve as educational tools, helping participants understand the technical and governance aspects of cardano blockchain. This contributes to a more informed and capable community. Inadequate education and support during onboarding dreps may result in participants making uninformed decisions or being unable to contribute effectively.

Community Engagement

Effective onboarding fosters a sense of community and encourages active participation. This engagement is crucial for the success of dRep integration, as it ensures that decisions are made with input from a broad range of delegators. If onboarding is not inclusive or accessible, it can lead to a lack of diversity in governance, potentially excluding valuable perspectives and reducing the legitimacy of decisions.

Transparency and Trust

Transparent onboarding of dReps will build trust among delegates. When individuals understand how decisions are made and have confidence in the governance mechanisms, they are more likely to actively participate. Lack of transparency in onboarding dReps may lead to suspicion or distrust within the community.

  • In summary, the impact of onboarding 200 members of the cardano Ghana community will marginally increase the number of dReps and those delegating their votes to dReps.
  • A total of 200 participants will get adequate education and understanding of dRep, Voting and Vote delegating to dReps.
  • The project will cover four regions of Ghana. These regions constitute of a group of people with diverse languages, occupation, religion, gender and age hence cardano governance will be more diverse from delegates.
  • Onboarding two hundred (200) people to Cardano Ecosystem will ensure correct voting and effective functioning of dReps in both CIPs and Project Catalyst.
  • It will also serve as catalysts for improving the marketing of cardano blockchain in Ghana.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

FEASIBILITY

Our team is made up of four active participants of Cardano Blockchain, we have successfully executed a similar project under fund 9 thus Catalyst Campus Train. The aim was to educate and onboard 200 newbies in tertiary institutions to project catalyst. I was assistant lead to this project. You can find the closeout report here.

Considering the milestones of this project, it is clear for measurement of the progress. We have structure the project into four milestones with its associated estimated cost. Our budget is clearly breaking down showing how funds will be used to ensure success of the project. The timelines are also clearly stated and enough for us to execute the project thus 4 months. Each team member represents a region we intend to engage.

The method chosen to onboard dReps is educational events with materials to serve as reminder and guide for success of dReps integration. This is to ensure effective governance for the success and sustainability of Cardano Blockchain. Enhancing decision-making processes, increasing transparency, and fostering community involvement.

What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

Considering the target participant thus the cardano Ghana community these are people which so much interest in cardano blockchain hence providing funds to educate them on how they can become drep, the benefits and the need is worth supporting. This will be a win-win for the cardano treasury and the cardano community in Ghana.

On the number of people the project will impact is very significant thus 200 beneficiaries. This will argument the effort of cardano foundation for good number of people to understand the aim of CIP-1694 of which dreps is key component of. Indeed transition to the liquid democracy needs more collaborations from diverse people across the community to prevent cardano blockchian from become centralized.

Considering the educational value of the event, it will provide more knowledge to the cardano Ghana community on voting skills and cardano governance system. The project will also increased the Cardano Blockchain knowledge among the community members as well as the brand of cardano blockchian since T-shirts will be provided.
