Our Solution: Feature Length Documentary on Project Catalyst

Our solution is to create a documentary at feature-length that goes in-depth on the issues people in South America face within a centralized ecosystem, and how Project Catalyst has changed their lives. This method of showing exactly how people’s lives have improved from the use of Cardano Smart Contracts and Project Catalyst will create a greater acceptance of Cardano and bolster the image of the work done by Project Catalyst. We plan on a future partnership with Techademia and others as examples of successful Project Catalyst funds that are doing work across South America. In showing the people responsible, we can put faces to both the people enacting and receiving the benefits of this progressive change.

Through our extensive network, we have also agreed to future partnerships with the Fundación Hogar de Esperanza. The Fundación is responsible for some of the most extensive humanitarian aid within Cuenca and furthermore Ecuador as a whole, and as such would be a prime example of a group Project Catalyst could aid with the power of Cardano.

Another contact we have made is with the Global Smile Foundation based in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Future work between Project Catalyst and these humanitarian organizations would be incredible for establishing a positive global relationship between the Cardano community and the world.

To establish our connection with the locals we have also established a relationship with one of the premier cacao farms in Ecuador, named Hacienda Cacao & Mango.

With a focus on showing the world these extremely important works of humanitarian aid with the help of Project Catalyst proposals, there will be a far wider acceptance and support of Cardano on a global scale.

By showing the active implementation of Cardano in South America, we defeat the problem of Cardano being viewed as just another cryptocurrency. Showcasing it as a physical tool in the 21st Century arsenal to enact change, we bolster Cardano’s foundation by demonstrating its ability to stand by its initial goals and mission statement to “ensure the positive advancement of the Cardano protocol, while also contributing to the positive advancement of blockchain as a world-changing technology”.

Risks include circumstances surrounding the Covid Pandemic and its ability to change the landscape of travel and international work. Additional risk comes from operating in a 3rd world country; a potential lack of policing and other unknown variables could compromise the shoot. These latter risks can somewhat be mitigated with proper funding and pre-production research.

Phase 1:

Pre-Production -

Reach out to our extensive network and build a strong production and post-production crew, budget dependent.

Cardano research with founders and experts.

Organize and schedule production schedule, formulate the shot list, and finalize story structure.

Contacting local governments to get proper permits to film.

Building production crew and assembling our interviewee subjects.

Travel scheduling and booking.

Equipment, insurance, accountant, licensing, and other legal responsibilities pre-shoot.

Phase 2:

Principle Photography/Production -

One week in each foreign location, identifying members of the community who have engaging stories to share about how they have been affected by crypto and the freedom it brings and meeting with the interviewees that agreed to films with us in pre-production.

Interviews with both project founders and the people they have helped.

Phase 3:

Post Production

Sending media to the editor and composer for the final product. Producers and Directors oversee the post-process to ensure the final product is as intended.

Generate a successful marketing campaign.

Release and reception: We will release the film online, in festivals, through streaming services, and in conjunction with other Catalyst-funded companies and projects.

Housing and in-country travel expenses will be COVERED outside of the fund.

Note that we will be seeking additional funding from other sources, given the nature of Catalyst Funding, and are hoping that with this fund in addition to others we can reach even higher goals than what we have set out to accomplish here.

The 60k budget attached is the bare minimum for the project and as such will have room to grow with additional funding.

We will be using our connections within the Cardano community to build interest in the film, additionally, we will submit the film to several film festivals to legitimize the work being done on an artistic level. In addition, we have produced a film on Youtube with over 50k views. With this kind of tracking on projects outside of the crypto community, we can hope to see even greater results with this project. This will be attributed to the fact that it highlights the way crypto helps these marginalized communities.

In pre-production, progress is determined by gathering crew members, scheduling flights, garnering equipment, and generally maintaining and following a detailed pre-production schedule.

In production, progress will be measured daily by reviewing how much we achieve relative to our daily call sheets. Each day of production is scheduled and outlined in a form called a call sheet, which details what needs to be achieved each day. At the end of every filming day, the footage gets stored and reviewed, in a process called reviewing the dailies, and the following days scheduled is modified to make sure we make our days. By following a detailed shooting schedule and story outline, we can ensure that we are capturing the story we are trying to tell.

In post-production, progress is measured by sitting with the editor, reviewing drafts and cuts, and seeing that the story is being told in the way it was intended. Post-production also includes advertising and marketing for the film as well as festival submissions and stream services pitches. We will be able to measure our success based on entry to these distributors.

Success will be measured by the quality of the documentary's ability to successfully tell the story of Cardano/Project Catalyst and showcase the multiple real-world uses of Cardano/Project Catalyst in an easily digestible fashion.

Success will further be measured by the project's ability to get accepted for festivals and whether or not it gets distribution. Should it be accepted for distribution, we would likely see some level of a return on investment.

Additional success would look like more people investing in Cardano, not just for money, but to use it for their own projects to make the world a better place, wider acceptance of it as an asset to enact change on a global scale, and a greater general understanding of Cardano.

This is an entirely new proposal in that it serves a different purpose than previous projects
