DLT360: Impact of the new EU Digital Identity Framework on Private Sector SSI Applications - Why this can no longer be ignored.

Please describe your proposed solution.

Summary

DLT360’s overall mission is to drive real-world blockchain adoption in business and industry. Practical experience has shown, that Decentralized Digital Identity solutions based on latest technologies and regulations (including Self-Sovereign Identity solutions) are major prerequisites and door-openers for commercial applications.

The outcome of this project - a Detailed REPORT about the impact of the emerging EU Digital Identity Framework on private-sector SSI solutions, and focused training and communication material - will subsequently be used for:

 • PR / Communication (mainly over YouTube and LinkedIn)
 • Training and knowledge sharing (e.g. in form of guidelines for the catalyst community)
 • Professional consulting services for generating real-world application projects based on CARDANO and Atala PRISM.
 • The resulting material will be integrated into the DLT360 NAVIGATOR (Knowledge Management Tool), the DLT360 Risk & Opportunity Radar and the DLT360 NEWS RADAR (see our related Fund 10 project).

The graphic below shows the positioning of this project in the overall DLT360 approach (The DLT360 Business Ladder: From Aggregating News, over Knowledge Management to Consulting)

Screenshot-2023-07-11-at-10.08.05-4355af.png

Rationale

From a risk-management perspective, businesses and industry will only invest into digital identity and blockchain solutions, if there is

a) Easy-to-understand business value,

b) Substantial reduction of pain-points and/or risks

c) Undoubted compliance with major regulations.

This is why this project is an important building-block in our Digital Identity / SSI business development journey and why we propose this deep-dive into the newly emerging EU Digital Agenda 2030, as this will be a globally relevant framework for the next phase of the digital transformation – well beyond the borders of the European Union.

Our deep-dive will focus on

 • Researching the EU Digital Identity framework, including investigations of related areas such as Cybersecurity (NIS2), Privacy (GDPR), the expected eIDAS update and other regulatory segments like DMA (Digital Markets Act), DSA (Digital Services Act) and MiCA (Markets in Crypto Assets) and other relevant segments
 • Outlining the impact of the European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (EBIS)
 • Examining the various European Digital Identity (EUDI) pilot projects like e.g. DC4U
 • Investigating the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of Public-Sector-driven approaches from the perspective of Private-Sector requirements
 • Establishing comprehensive material for communication, training and business development

The output of this project (cutting-edge knowledge, summarized in a detailed report, communication-, training- and business development material) will represent a strong USP for DLT360, benefitting CARDANO and Atala PRISM.

Strategy

The unique knowledge and the material established by this project will be used to support our overall DLT360 mission and will subsequently be the basis for

 • Active PR and communication for creating attention and interest for EU-compliant Decentralized Digital Identity/SSI solutions (mainly handled on YouTube and LinkedIn)
 • Knowledge management and training provided by the DLT360 NAVIGATOR
 • Dedicated seminars and business-development workshops for getting from interest to desire and action, thus providing the basis for active scaling of application projects in business and industry

Impact

This project is expected to show substantial impact on the work of DLT360 as well as on the scaling of (CARDANO and Atala PRISM-based) applications in business and industry. We expect the following major impact areas:

 • Growing expert relationships
 • Growing awareness about CARDANO and Atala PRISM in business and industry
 • Increase community knowledge and engagement
 • Scaling commercial activities and the number of application projects

Find more details in the next following sections.

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

This project will bring the following significant benefits to Atala PRISM and the Cardano ecosystem:

 • Grow expert relationships: Create close relationships with leading players in relevant EU working groups, SSI expert community as well as in business and industry

 • Grow awareness about CARDANO and Atala PRISM: The resulting material will be used in active PR/Communication (mainly on YouTube and LinkedIn) and will help us to position CARDANO and Atala PRISM as value-adding application-suite for future-proof business and industry applications in the SSI domain.

 • Increase community knowledge and engagement: The resulting material will contain practical guidelines for future applications. We will also use the material for community activities in the context of the DLT360 NAVIGATOR (Knowledge Management) and the new DLT360 NEWS RADAR (= active sharing and discussing of relevant News - see our related Fund 10 project)

 • Basis for effective customer acquisition: The results of this project will also be used in future DLT360 seminars and workshops. These workshops have will use the unique knowledge and material for ideating, initiating and scaling real-world applications in business and industry

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

This project is part of the overall activities of DLT360. Nevertheless, we can identified a number of specific metrics, KPI and qualitative factors for evaluating the mid- and longterm rate of success of this project.

 • Number of expert relationships: This is a general success-criteria of DLT360, which this project shares with most of our other projects. This KPI is part of the overall DLT360 scorecard. We will nevertheless try to measure the new relationships generated specifically by this projects.

 • Reputation of DLT360, CARDANO and Atala PRISM within our target groups: We plan to do annual surveys within our target customer area in business and industry for providing us with feedback about the progress in our PR and communication efforts

 • Number of community activities and number of participants: Based in the material generated by this project, we will offer dedicated community activities (DLT360 NAVIGATOR and DLT360 NEWS RADAR sessions in form of dedicated trainings and after-townhall breakout rooms). The number and the success of these activities will be tracked.

 • Number of seminars and seminar participants: The material generated by this project will be used in dedicated business development seminars. We will track this number of future activities and participants in such future activities.

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?
