Answer:
Job shadowing is a type of on-the-job training that allows an interested employee to follow and closely observe another employee performing the role. This learning method allows employees to gain the necessary experience needed to become valuable to their employers. In Fund 9 when we proposed to try this concept with African talents, here are some key questions we were trying to validate
- Will companies find value in a job-shadowing platform?
- Are talents willing to have this Job shadowing experience Virtually?
- Will talents(African talents In the context of F9) become much more valuable post the program?
- How will payments be made, and will companies be willing to pay in ADA?
These were some among many questions at the back of our minds when we started the experiment, our result showed a lot more than we imagined, here are some problems we encountered
- Talents were very willing to get job shadowing experience, in fact, the demand was more than the available companies willing to take them in, so we had more talents who wanted the Job shadowing experience but fewer companies willing to offer
- The language barrier that exists between employees and the one being job-shadowed
- The lack of a personalized mentorship system, and the program was not well suited for individuals who just wanted to share their experience with the younger ones
- The need to validate that talent actually passed through the process
- The bureaucracy of payments, companies had to pay us while we made the payments to the talents wallet.
Based on these identified problems we are proposing the following to the concept already built in order to create a viable MVP that we can utilize with talents and employers globally, the solutions are listed according to the way the problem was listed
- In the MVP we are proposing companies will have their curated platforms where the mentorship process becomes predictable and automated, so with few employers, we can help more talents. Say it this way it will become a one-to-many approach, which will be recorded and made repeatable by our platform, this solves the demand and supply problem.
- Most communication will be AI-assisted with translation and contexts added by AI to help both parties communicate effectively.
- An employer or employee can directly request for application for direct mentorship from those seeking job shadowing, this will be one singular breakthrough because what this means is that even you as an employee can come on the platform and get a few talents to learn from your wealth of experience.
- The integration of an on-chain proof, in this case, a Cardano-based DID certification as proof that talent has undergone a job shading with a company or person
- In the MVP talents will have their own wallets in their profile, same with the employers so that they will do the direct payment to the talent, we will also have a multi-sig wallet for employers to pay many talents directly.
