Solution

Conduct a survey and Dapp on compliance to requirements of licensed boda boda riders to help law enforcement and social protection

Problem

Motorbike riders have recently been linked to a wave of criminal activity in Kenya ranging from Robbery with violence to Sexual assaults.

Curb Crime by capturing Data

  • Create safety to the vulnerable in the society
  • Make it easy to trace rogue rider
  • Equip them with skills to ride safely on the road
  • Help them maintain and follow due process on matters accident
  • An Dapp listing rogue riders will help the boda boda transport Dapps to select and sign in their rider
  • Each transport Dapp with boda boda riders will be required to take their riders through reporting procedures and Rule of Law

In the spirit of encouraging Cardano blockchain solutions to provide a developing nation like Kenya with decentralized solutions to their infrastructure, we want to identify the single point of failure, in protecting the individual's right to live in a safe and harmonious nation.

We want to eliminate the potential of escalated crime due to lack of data on who gets to ride a motor bike and their records in one place .

There needs to be integration of identity of individuals to make them easily traceable and therefore less likely to commit a crime but to also succeed in their business as they get scored and vetted through the system

May have to do a pilot testing with a fact finding mission or research into the actual situation on the ground in relation to how these riders start off their careers. We may get into hitches when it come to getting the information or competitors in the space also doing the same thing

Overall Objective

Conduct a survey on the boda boda riders in an area of Kenya and collect relevant data on identity documents, certifications and training and relevant experience in the rule of law

1.Training and content development together with the institutions that facilitate these trainings where riders get onboarded and equipped with skills to ride safely on the road

2.Create a transport DApp with boda boda riders that vets them

KPIs

May - June 2022 Survey conducted with data from National Transport Authority and Ministry of ICT

May 2022 Training and content development together with the institutions that facilitate these trainings where riders are equipped with skills to ride safely on the road and onboarded

June 2022 - contacting and onboarding the Riders

July 2022 -Riders trained and also exposed to block chain and Cardano

August 2022-DApp prototype

According to the Kenya Ministry of ICT data, there are about 2million riders in Kenya an industry that has grown exponentially and beyond the legal framework of the industry. We hope that at the end to this project we will have clearer understanding of the issues from data collected about riders and created an identity solution on Cardano to facilitate a smoother running of this unregulated industry

Success in this project would be the integration of identity of individuals to make them easily traceable and therefore less likely to commit a crime and also to grow in their business as they get vetted by riders through a scoring system.
