Solution

With my extensive background experience in hotel Industry, I want to leverage on this and impart knowledge and information to Hoteliers to become members of the ecosystem- CRs, ADA holders, Proposers.

Problem

Hoteliers in Ghana lack information about Cardano and its ecosystem. Hoteliers meet diverse people from all over the world and yet do not have enough knowledge about crypto, ADA and Catalyst benefits.

CATALYST WORKSHOP SERIES IN GHANA

Please describe your proposed solution.

Detailed Solution:

Hotel workers - Chefs, Housekeeping, Receptionists, Food and Beverage- in Ghana meet a lot of people from all over the world who check into the hotels. Some of these clients have crypto currency which might include ADA. At a point in time these clients might want to send ADA to a staff in exchange for local currency but it is not possible because these staff are not aware of Cardano ADA. Some of these workers know Bitcoin but not ADA.

It is now time for the Cardano ecosystem and ADA to reach these workers to promote Cardano and ADA.

I intend to educate these workers about Cardano ecosystem, ADA and opportunities in project catalyst.

At the end of the training, the impact will be that about 150 hotel workers would have had knowledge and good understanding of Cardano, which some would have registered on Ideascale, wallets opened for them to own ADA to expand ADA holders in the Cardano Community. These ADA holders can become Voters and eventually DReps.

I will cover three (3) different hotels in Accra for this project within 3 months of 3 different workshops; one workshop per month starting from November 2023 to January 2024.

Topics For the Workshops:

  • Cardano blockchain to be handled by Cardano Expert called Nathaniel Dwamena
  • Project Catalyst and Opportunities to be handled by Emelia Sarfo
  • Wallets- Yoroi and other wallets to be handled by Awura Adwoa Owusu

Hotel staff are very busy with different shifts schedule. I have worked as Head of Human Resources Departments of five (5) different hotels in Accra, Ghana, and I know the duty schedules so I have targeted those who will be off duty for the workshops. So getting 50 persons for each workshop is not difficult at all. I have contacts with all these 5 hotels and I have good relationship with both management and staff and they are glad that I want to have such sessions on Cardano blockchain with them.

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

This Catalyst Open Challenge is also about scaling and getting more numbers of ADA holders in the ecosystem. This is exactly what this project is embarking on; to get more ADA holders to become Voters in the subsequent Funds from Fund 11 onwards, from the hotel Industry in Ghana.

With this expansion, there will be growth in the Cardano ecosystem.

I will educate over 150 workers and therefore expect this number of workers to be part of the community. Some will become proposers, Community Reviewers and therefore become active members of the ecosystem.

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

Measure of Success:

  • The number of participants during the 3 sessions ( at least 50 workers per session in particular hotels).
  • The number of workers that register to hold ADA in wallets
  • The number of participants that would be active in the Cardano ecosystem
  • The number of participants that become voters and Dreps in the near future.

In the short term, 150 ADA holders will lead to expansion in the ecosystem and growth in Cardano In the longer term, some of these ADA Holders will become proposers, Community Reviewers, Circle members. Some will be making excellent contributions to the successful operation of Cardano governance.

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

Detailed Plan:

My plan is to start implementation from November and complete in January 2024.

There will be one workshop for 50 workers in a hotel within a month.

After every session, a comprehensive report in the form of document and video will be sent to Catalyst and the video will be uploaded on YouTube for public view. The public view can attract more hotel workers even from the wide world into Cardano. They will know that Cardano is not just about trading but is concerned about the well being of the people in a community.

The results will be kept for future education and adoption of Cardano in other hotels in other parts of Ghana.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability?

With my experience in completing and closing out two projects in Fund 8 and Fund 9, I am best suited for this project. I was able to gather large crowd of students in tertiary Institutions to educate them and created awareness about Cardano.

I was a CA for Fund 6, 7 and 8 ; a PA for Fund 9; vCA for Fund 7; vPA for Fund 9; Challenge Team member for Grow Africa Grow Cardano Challenge in Fund 8 and Fund 9. Currently I am a team member with the Fund 10 Start ups & Onboarding for Students Challenge. I am a very active member of the Cardano communities and part of the Wada Ghana Hubs.

My profession is Human Resource Management and I am currently a Consultant Recruiter for hotels in Ghana. I have been Human Resource Manager and Trainer in customer service satisfaction in 4 Star Hotels in Ghana and I have high reputation in the hotel Industry in Ghana.

The budget which has been broken down into detail in the subsequent space will be followed and reported as such to Catalyst.

What are the main goals for the project and how will you validate if your approach is feasible?

Objectives:

  • To educate hotel workers on Cardano and help them to open Yoroi wallets and become ADA Holders
  • To get hotel workers in Ghana to become active participants in the Cardano ecosystem in the roles as proposers, Community Reviewers and Voters.
  • To promote Cardano amongst Hotel workers in Ghana

Goals:

  • To educate 150 hotels workers in Ghana
  • To get about 100 to 150 ADA holders amongst hotel workers in Ghana
  • To get the hotel workers in Ghana become active members of the Cardano Community.

Please provide a detailed breakdown of your project’s milestones and each of the main tasks or activities to reach the milestone plus the expected timeline for the delivery.

Milestones:

November 3rd week - 1st workshop in a Hotel (yet to get a specific hotel by name)

December 2nd week - 2nd workshop in another specified hotel

January 2024 2nd week - 3rd workshop in another hotel yet to be specified.

The topics will be:

  • Cardano blockchain & Project Catalyst Opportunities
  • ADA and wallet opening
  • Registration on Ideascale

At the end of each session, a report will be sent to Catalyst Community and also a monthly report will be sent. Videos will be uploaded on You Tube.

Please describe the deliverables, outputs and intended outcomes of each milestone.

Deliverables:

  • About 150 hotel workers will be educated on Cardano and ADA ; they will have Yoroi wallets opened for them with token ADA. They would be active members of the community in the short and long terms.
  • The intended result is that ADA holders will increase; Voters will expand; Cardano will grow in Ghana and globally.
  • My project's progress will be tracked by the documented reports I have and also sent to Catalyst, the videos in archives and on You tube.
  • The measure of success is about how people many people have seen the impact on the participants; how many of the participants have become active members of the community; how many people have viewed the videos and commented.

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown of the proposed work and resources.

Emelia Sarfo : An active member in the Cardano ecosystem; CA for Fund 6, 7 , 8; PA for Fund 9; vCA for Fund 7; vPA for Fund 9; Funded Proposer for Fund 8 and 9; Challenge Team member- Grow Africa Grow Cardano Fund 8 and 9; Current Fund10 Challenge Team member for Start ups & Onboarding for Students.

Awura Adwoa Owusu : Active member of Cardano Ecosystem; CA for Fund 6, 7, 8; vCA for Fund 7; PA for Fund 9; Proposer; Final student at the University of Ghana Business School. She will be in charge of educating the participants about crypto wallets and opening of wallets, particularly Yoroi which is simple to use in the Africa context.

Her email contact is [email protected]

Richmond Oppong - an active member in Wada Ghana and Cardano Community who will be in charge of media and photography. He was a proposer in Fund 9.

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

My budget is reasonable because I have done the breakdown in accordance with the prevailing costs of items in Ghana. For 3 workshops in hotels for hotel workers, this budget is quite reasonable. It is value for money considering the work I will be doing. In my previous 2 funded proposals - Ghana Youth Onboarding Outreach- I did a small reasonable budget which covered the cost of of a good job done. It is the same integrity I am applying here to do an excellent job for my community in particular and Catalyst as a whole. Thanks to Catalyst for the continuous support to spread Cardano ecosystem in Ghana.
