Solution

Think Speed-Dating. 60 second lightning rounds of Elevator Pitches. Followed by 120 second rounds exposing the nuances of each Contributors Project.

Problem

Long form content requires too much time and energy to digest for Catalyst Contributors. Keeping up is NOT an option. Collaboration, Self-Marketing & Reach are of top priority to Proposing Projects.

Catalyst HeartBeat

Please describe your proposed solution.

Catalyst HeartBeat is a "speed-dating" style show in a triple stack of proposals targeting proposal reach and community collaboration.

----------

The process of creating a living HeartBeat in a community is akin to planting and nurturing a seed through its development into a tree. The community gathers around the HeartBeat seed and waters it with their time and attention. Through this process the seed develops into a mighty tree of collaboration, based on each participant's contributions.

The Heartbeat Podcast process is a fast and easy way to surface the most important efforts in a community and it focuses everyone on doing their most critical and relevant work. The process smoothly facilitates spontaneous collaboration w/o requiring commitments to attend (or review) more lengthy meetings. In addition, it creates a backlog of talent that can be mined in future Funds.

Multiple Teams could simultaneously run the HeartBeat format in Challenges, Sub-Circles, and Community “Bubbles”. This proposal is to prove the mechanism’s effectiveness for Future Catalyst Funding Rounds.

Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

The Catalyst HeartBeat provides a stage for Proposers from all over the globe to expand their reach, increasing their chances for meaningful collaboration.

The HeartBeat is a mechanism to provide answers to the following Challenge Brief Guiding Questions:

  • How do we attract developers from outside of our current community to participate in Catalyst?
  • What do developers want, and how do they get it from the Cardano dev ecosystem?
  • What are enterprise dev managers looking for in order to be able to build out enterprise projects - either internal or commercial?

The HeartBeat Collects Data, Promotes Collaboration and Creates these Key Metric:

  • A sense of community and conversations. Having people around to talk with.
  • Marketing Materials and Reach to Share w/ Friends

What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Equitably selecting proposers to participate in the HeartBeat from all sectors of Project Catalyst.

Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

16 Episodes Coordinated and Recorded over 4 months at a rate of 1/week.

Leancoffeetable.com is used to facilitate this moving stage.

Catalyst HeartBeat time and location are set ahead of time and announced by an event facilitator. 10 Participating Proposer Slots available per Episode.

Proposers attend and participate in a 3-phase HeartBeat.

Round 1 - is a lightning round where each participant stands up and answers these two questions in 1 minute:

  • What are you working on now?
  • What would you like to be working on what resources, tools, skills, and talents do you have access to that would enable this?

*A gentle bell rings to remind a participant when they reach their 1 min mark. Respect is required.*

Round 2 - is a conversational round where the community suggests discussion topics, then votes on which to address first. Each topic receives 3 minutes of stage time, then a Roman vote, where thumbs are displayed either up (continue), sideways (no preference), or down (move onto the next topic) determines whether to extend the topic for another 2 minutes or to immediately move onto the next topic.

Round 3 - is a Next Actions round where each participant writes in the chat what they are committed to doing immediately to progress the communities' work.

Broadcast - the HeartBeat recording is then broadcast publicly to the Catalyst community. Resources collected during cast are linked to in the video description. Youtube and GitBook.

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

$8,000 - 12 Episodes

  • $500/episode to Coordinate Contributors and Facilitate Event

$1,000 - Dework Community Organization

$115 - Subscriptions

If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Possibly, We hope that the Catalyst HeartBeat, as proposed, is a model that can be articulated as a "composable service" provided by many teams to Challenges or Challenge Categories. Speed-Dating Proposal Content is a quick way to get a look at similar categorized projects and spark collaborations between Dates and If nothing else have some very interesting conversations post the Speed-Dating portion of the event.

Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

All deliverables are public facing channels and will be uploaded within 24 hours of recording - YouTube and GitBook - Progress can be measured by checking these channels for resources and engagement.

The Catalyst HeartBeat aims to amplify marketing reach to proposers. Each episode uses a Google Form to collect links and additional information regarding the Proposers projects. Form includes a feedback and facilitation/coordination rating section. Feedback is anonymously added to GitBook.

What does success for this project look like?

HeartBeat.Team defines success criteria as ::

  • All 10 Proposer slots filled in each episode
  • Links/Resources and Feedback collected from each Proposer each episode
  • Average of 100 views per episode over 12 Catalyst HeartBeats at Project close

Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

No previously funded proposal - this was proposed in F7 and F8, but was not funded.
