Catalyst Events 4 Vietnam Students

Please describe your proposed solution.

University/College IT students are potential resources for creative ideas. When these students are oriented and supported they become meaningful participators in Project Catalyst.

Startup projects of IT students often got challenges in writing projects and raising capital. If these projects can be implemented on Cardano, they will be a perfect match for each other: Cardano diversifies project participants, Students get their projects funded fast and the result will be to diversify the Cardano ecosystem, ensuring sustainability in the future.

According to the report by Topdev, Vietnam will be a destination for many big corporations because of its abundant human resources. We have about 55,000 IT students graduating each year from 153 universities and institutes

Our project aims to reach out to lecturers and students to raise the awareness of Cardano and the opportunities that exist if they could work as Proposers, Proposal assessors, Referrers, and Challenge team and voters. We will provide fundamental information about the Cardano blockchain, introduce the programming languages, share the opportunities in Project Catalyst, and how to participate. We will accompany lectures and students in writing, submitting ideas, and applying for funding on Catalyst. Support them in project implementation and management after their projects get funded.

Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

Challenge requires growing the Cardano ecosystem in an inclusive and supportive way. By raising the awareness of Lectures and students in Universities about blockchain and the Cardano network, supporting them to become active participants in Catalyst with different roles (Proposer, PA, vPA, Challenge team, voters) We believe the above requirement is completely resolved.

The funded Catalyst Events 4 Vietnam Students will accompany other proposed topics in the university, supporting them to come up with ideas and implement ideas on the Cardano platform.

When the project is successfully implemented, it will significantly change the following criteria:

  • The number of proposals originated from Universities in Project Catalyst
  • The quantity and quality of funding proposals originated from Universities
  • The number of participants of the Catalyst with a variety of different roles.

What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Below might be the risks in the project:

  • we might run more events to get more onboard students and submit proposals than expected. This action should be carried out after having data from events within 2 months

We are committed to transparency internally and with the community. We will keep track of all project activities and expenses in "https://github.com/cardano2vn" when the project is funded

Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

For the successful implementation, we have the following detailed plan

First month:

  • Selected 03 Universities to implement this project.
  • Work with these university representatives to schedule specific events (fix date/time, contents of the events, sending out event invitations, event logistics…)
  • Organize events at universities to share overview potentials with blockchain, Introduction to Cardano, and Catalyst

2nd month:

  • Organize events at universities. share opportunities to be Proposers, Proposal assessor Referrers, Doers, or Voters with project Catalyst.
  • Conduct surveys to get feedback from attendees.
  • Conduct training on how to integrate with blockchain. how to create a native token and NFT.

Third months:

  • Delivery additional sharing if students need more information about Cardano and Catalyst.
  • Survey analysis and working university representatives for any extra support are needed.
  • Contact lectures and students and get their ideas from the feedback form.
  • Motivate, and support them to create their own projects by conducting conference calls, face to face meetings (if possible)

Fifth months:

  • Accompany pioneers in writing, submitting ideas, and applying for funding on Catalyst

How our team manages the workload among funded projects:

  • Many of our projects use community resources. With these projects, the core team will focus on building a mechanism to encourage people from the community to participate and ensure the quality of the output.
  • Some of the work in the projects will be outsourced such as marketing, content design, event preparation, and survey implementation.
  • The core team will hold weekly meetings with project managers to capture progress updates, barriers, and solutions.

We also apply these solutions to handle the workloads:

  • Create a full list of projects and processes with the responsibility of each member
  • Define the timeline and scope of each task in projects, set the priorities for each task, visualize progress and set realistic deadlines.
  • We do analyze the workload of our team to determine the workload of the entire team and individual team members

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

With the actual implementation of this project at 02 universities in Fund7. The project team had to increase the number of events to 8 events per school.

In this funding round - Fund9 we expand the scope of sharing from 2 universities to 3 universities, so the detailed items will include: (google spreadsheet for this calculation is available here)

  • Events facility cost for 24 events (it includes physical room renting costs, travel cost, zoom license, water, banners…we estimate $200 per event): 24x$200=4800.
  • Events Hosting, Guest fees (2 hours per event, 4 hours for preration= 6 hours per event)=6 hours * $60 per hour *24 events=$8640.
  • Survey design and survey data analysis, sharing findings (2 hours per event) =2*$40 per hours*24 events=$1920.
  • Dedicate people to support 20 proposals: estimate we need ~10 hours per proposal =10 hours*$60 per hour *20 proposals =$12000
  • Incentives for the student who has qualified proposal summited to IdeaScale: 100$ per submitted proposal * 20=$2000
  • Project Management(21 week*2 hour/week* $40 USD/hour)= $1680
  • Budget for Marketing $2000

Total cost=$33040

Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

NOTE: we will recruit additional team members at each university we selected, These resources will help us to organize events, communicate with students, deliver the surveys and handle the community.

If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Yes. We had successfully implemented the project Catalyst Events 4 Vietnam Students, Through this project, we saw the demand and potential from students in the blockchain field at universities, so that is the reason why we submit proposals again.

Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

We will track the success of this project by measuring the following metric :

  • Total number of the events we delivered
  • Total number of participants who attend the events
  • Total number of surveys
  • Total number of proposals summited to ideascale from universities
  • Total number of proposals assessors.
  • Total number of 1 to 1 support sessions

Our KPIs should be:

  • At least 24 events will be delivered at universities.
  • Estimate about 1000 participants attend the events.
  • At least 06 surveys
  • At least 20 proposals will be submitted to ideascale when project ends
  • 150 students attending the seminar and sharing sessions
  • 40 dedicated sessions for 1 to 1 support.

These KPIs along with the event's photos/videos and others materials will be published on our website (cardano2vn.io) a few days after the event is complete. We will provide monthly reports on GitHub (https://github.com/cardano2vn) for the community.

What does success for this project look like?

With the end of the project, about 1000+ students from 03 universities became aware of the Cardano blockchain, Catalyst's funding model. There will be dozens of projects submitted to ideascale, many of which are funded and put into operation. Furthermore, students can participate in Catalyst in a variety of roles. They will experience the new reality of a DAO model.

Students are the potential workforce for Cardano blockchain, they will diversify the ecosystem and ensure the sustainability of the platform.

Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Fund 7. and it relates to 02 other proposals in Fund 9: They are Cardano developer courseware in Uni and Cardano developer club in Uni
