Catalyst Africa Town Hall (CATH)

Our solution is to create an appropriate platform where African communities will feel welcome and can easily interact and communicate within themselves. CATH is a community-driven initiative in growing Cardano across Africa, building a truly global economy and society. The focus is on making the impossible possible. A place, a time, and a space where:

We can build knowledge, share information, connect and support each other.

Language and culture are not a barrier to participation.

We learn how to apply the technology, and community, to address local needs.

Show how to use Cardano to increase our economic well being.

Enrich Cardano's ecosystem with our stories, our energy, and our perspectives.

The Africa region will unite culturally and linguistically with a goal to grow Cardano.

The solution will increase the number of African communities interested in the Cardano Community to grow. There will be an increase in the quality of Project Catalyst projects, increase in the number of contributors and increase in the number of individuals interested in blockchain .

The aim is to level up a platform to increase the quality of information accessible to individuals on the continent . As an initiator, the first/maiden CATH came off successfully with quite a number of positive responses and are proud to have been able to establish an open and inclusive space for the community to interact to present ideas, connect and meet with each other and to share visions and ambitions. As more individuals get onboard, it is believed that more projects will emerge. More projects building on Cardano means a larger market will become available for the continent. Overall this creates a positive collaboration that will help to propel the Cardano ecosystem forward faster in Africa.

The aim is to level up the Catalyst Africa Town Halls and to increase the quality and the format. As initiators of the CATH, we are proud that we have been able to establish an open and inclusive space for the community to present ideas, connect and meet with each other and to share visions and ambitions.

The main challenges to overcome will be:

  • Frequent power (electricity) outages within the continent from the end of participating members. However the host will be supported by a standby power

  • Unstable internet connection is another factor to be look at from individual participants as well. This will be resolved by a dedicated network from the host site

  • The planning team will meet weekly to plan and create the content for CATH for 3 months from March to May 2022

  • Then a Bi-Weekly CATH online event

  • Target of minimum of 30 persons per event

  • Encouragement and empowerment of communities will lead to growth of membership

  • Breakout rooms in English, French, Arabic, Swahili and other Local languages (if possible)

  • Translation of documents into various languages

  • A questionnaire on the number of proposers / voters / advisors is conducted at each meeting in the community of the target country.

The goal is to grow participation from the continent by 10% for each funding round in the next two funding calls, that is, Fund 9 and Fund10. This will be done by continuing monitoring proposals submitted that support the African continent.

  • Platforms: Create a number of platforms telegram (https://t.me/+2KSAf9K0A1E1NDhk), discord, Facebook, etc where inquiries from the community about Catalyst are answered by our members in their respective languages.

- Bi-Weekly: We hold weekly planning events and meetups, sharing information about our activities within each community and come out with a program/agenda for the main/general CATH bi-weekly meetings for the community at large

- Monthly: Provide a report on activities being undertaken.

Surveys will be conducted in each community to count the number of voters, proposers and experts in each region.

Budget Areas

Attendance at weekly project planning meetings to plan for main CATH: 10 people x 2 hours x 4 weeks x 3 months x $ 20: $4,800

Translation of documents into the various languages (Arabic, French, Swahili) - $3,000

Common expenses - administrative, zoom meetings etc $2,000

Funding requirements in future funds will be required to maintain KPIs that support Catalyst's success in Africa

We have already started this activity and will continue to do so whether or not this funding is raised.

After 6 months

We should demonstrate our ability to grow Cardano/Catalyst participation in the African countries by 10% for each fund.

First Africa Town Hall took place on Friday, March 4 at 18.00 UTC

Here the recording in a gdrive folder ( will be uploaded elsewhere as well, stay tuned :) )

This Proposal is a collaboration of Catalyst Community Members with a direct support from:

Wada - <https://wadalliance.org/>

Catalyst Swarm - <https://catalystswarm.com/>

Catalyst School - <https://linktr.ee/CatalystSchool>

Recorded versions of the Town Hall events would be uploaded to our YouTube channel (you tube link) with links to them shared in the various Cardano communities for members to track the progress of the project. Also, the number of viewership being received by every single meeting would help the team articulate when and where to increase marketing efforts.

  • Number of participants at each meeting

  • Number of new communities coming on board

  • Number of proposals submitted by/for the Africa community members

  • Number of people on boarded within 6 months

  • Number of CAs coming out of the communities.

This is a new proposal, with the hope of supporting the main Town Hall, LATAM, Pacific Town Hall and all other source of information towards the progress of Cardano Foundation and Project Catalyst.
