Music is a great way to bring people together, we will organise a concert in Lagos and Accra to educate people about Cardano in a compelling way, whilst they have a great time with music and food!

Problem

Blockchain/Web3 can be confusing to the average person so this is a barrier, but there are huge benefits for the youth in African to get involved with Project Catalyst/Cardano ecosystem. How? Music.

CARDANO'S FIRST CONCERT IN AFRICA!

Please describe your proposed solution.

DR ADAKU & FRIENDS

Music is a great way to spread messages and create change. Our solution aims to use music in the form of a concert to tell the world about Cardano, starting with Nigeria (Lagos) and Ghana (Accra). This is a huge project but certainly achievable. We will ongoingly recruit exceptional teams who will help to make this a huge success but we will also educate hundreds of people as a result of our efforts with the plan of growing bigger and bigger.

A range of cNFTs will also be available as 'VIP' with extra perks.

Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

There is so much potential for African youths especially to change their lives with Cardano, specifically Project Catalyst especially with opportunities to become Proposal Assessors, so more people need to know about the ecosystem! We can deliver this message through music in the form of a concert with known artists (given the budget :)).

We will have two concerts in the first instance: one in Lagos (Nigeria) and one in Accra (Ghana), we will then collaborate with those from the ecosystem in other African countries to run events in other places like South Africa especially because of the incredible global love for Amapiano music. If this current budget allows, we will start recruiting and reaching out to reps in other countries who have the skills to organise concerts in their corresponding countries. This will be a movement!

We will have educational sessions through Instagram live, Tik Tok and zoom to educate people on what Cardano is and what Project Catalyst is too. In order to purchase a ticket to the concert, attendees would have to use a Cardano wallet hence prior education is key. Thus ADA is the only way that attendees can attend the concert. We will also pay concert staff in ADA too. These aforementioned efforts mean a huge potential for new people to explore Cardano in a practical way. By actually downloading a wallet, making purchases using ADA and using that to attend a real life event. We will also do fun giveaways and have an accessibility pot for those who can't afford it but would like to attend. Emphasis on Project Catalyst having the potential to change lives will be emphasised especially even through the means of doing 'Project Assessment' - given the exchange rates, this could really create streams of incomes for the youth.

As re-iterated, education is key for the success of this challenge and this will be a core part of the concert. Even as we encourage those to become Proposal Assessors, we would want to ensure they have substantial training on Cardano and Project Catalyst so that they are able to deliver great and useful reviews.

What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

We need to be accessible, and we will. For example, we may need to consider data required on phones to even access the educational resources that we aim to put out, especially if these are in the form of video. We will make attempts to ensure the file sizes are as small as possible (for this reason) without compromising quality. We will have a pot of funds for those who will like to get involved but do not have the financial means to do so (data, tickets etc), and this is where the proposal really comes to life. Not only are we teaching African youths how to get involved in the ecosystem in a number of ways but we'll have employment opportunities via the concerts as we'd need people to work before, during and after.

Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

The first show will be in December 2022 which is a popular time for shows in Nigeria and Ghana especially where the diaspora also fly home to attend such events. It is a great opportunity to have our first concert.

Create resources

Multimedia resources across different platforms to create different audiences. This has started already in preparation as we will need resources to teach.

Recruiting team members

These would initially be music specialists on ground. Getting expressions of interest from specialists in the field.

Location scouting

Finding locations for the shows in Lagos and Accra. The proposers already have connections and ideas for which venues to use.

Partnerships

Getting partners within the Cardano ecosystem and Project Catalyst contributors to join the journey.

Training

This is on-going and resources for the first milestone will be adapted accordingly depending on the audience.

Artist bookings

To get a number of known and upcoming artists to perform at the concert, ideally paid in ADA or CLAP so we'd teach them too.

Social media marketing

Lead up and announcements.

Recruiting staff members for show days

They will need to be trained and educated about Cardano and Project Catalyst inside out to be able to answer any questions on the show days

Rehearsals

Multiple rehearsal opportunities and soundcheck for the artists.

Live educational webinars

These will be done on Zoom, Tik Tok live and Instagram live. These will be hands on and those in attendance will be taught how to get a wallet and encouraged to do so during the webinars or shortly after.

Show day(s)!

Performances and engaging sessions on Project Catalyst. All attendees need a Cardano wallet to buy tickets and to buy food/drinks/merch on the day.

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

We aim to recruit country reps around the African continent and support them in organising a Cardano concert in their countries. We want this to be global because as mentioned, music is a powerful way to spread messages.

In the first few concerts, we will sell tickets but at a reduced rate for affordability and also to encourage everyone to get involved.

Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

Social media engagement - we will start with Dr Adaku's social media pages across Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, Triller, Facebook and YouTube as she already has a following and good connections.

Tik Tok @DrAdaku

What does success for this project look like?

Success for this project will be African youths being able to have an additional source of income via being a Project Assessor once educated with our training/webinars, to get a new lease a life using music/the concert as music is something that is so important in boost ones wellbeing. To have at least one hundred of new Cardano wallets created (as they will need this to participate in the concert).

  • 200 new wallets created
  • 5 cNFTs purchased (VIP tickets)
  • Engagement on the hashtag #DrAdakuAndFriends

Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is a new proposal.
