Solution

This project will begin with the Cardano and Polkadot ecosystems as primary collaborators. We aim to build a successful pilot which can be later easily adapted & adopted towards other web3 Ecosystems

Problem

Cardano likes Polkadot, Polkadot likes Cardano. So, why aren’t there any resources available to connect Cardano & Polkadot builders in-person.. Let’s change that

Cardano X Polkadot - Workshop Europe

Please describe your proposed solution

Let's keep it short and precise. What we do is:

Conceptualize and Design Cross-Chain Event Formats:

Create blueprints and playbooks that provide guidelines for organizing and funding cross-chain events. These will be designed to be easily replicated by various ecosystem organizers in the future.

Facilitate Collaboration Between Cardano & Polkadot Ecosystems:

Focus on fostering partnerships and cooperation between community leaders, event organizers, and contributors from both Cardano and Polkadot ecosystems.

Host an Initial Cross-Chain Event:

Launch a test event with experienced event organizers and agents from both ecosystems. This event will serve as a pilot and showcase the viability of cross-chain collaboration.

Create a Event Playbook:

Develop a playbook that can be reused, adjusted, and scaled to promote long-term cross-chain collaboration. License the Playbook under a Open-Source license.

Target Audience:

Event Organizers:

A small, experienced group of event organizers and community leaders with deep knowledge of the Cardano and Polkadot ecosystems. These individuals will spearhead the event's planning and execution.

Ecosystem Contributors & Experts:

The attendees will be well-experienced blockchain developers, network contributors, and ecosystem builders, not an event for Web3 newcomers.

Cross-Chain Enthusiasts:

Blockchain community members interested in interoperability and cross-chain technologies, who are keen on exploring synergies across different networks.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

Cross-Chain Collaboration: By fostering a collaborative environment between Cardano and Polkadot ecosystems, the project will help break silos, encourage knowledge-sharing, and facilitate innovation through partnership.

Event Playbook: Developing an open-source playbook for organizing cross-chain events will benefit the community by providing a replicable model for future initiatives. This will empower more community members and organizations to host similar events, spreading knowledge and increasing participation.

Community Building: By organizing in-person workshops, the project aims to bring together builders, contributors, and leaders from Cardano and Polkadot. This will create more personal connections, strengthen the sense of community, and increase cohesion within the broader blockchain ecosystem.

Scalable Impact: The project is designed to be scalable beyond its initial pilot phase. The playbook and blueprints created can be adapted for future events, thereby extending the reach and long-term impact of the cross-chain collaboration

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

As a core contributor at uniFires, a collective of Cardano & Polkadot Ambassadors who work together since late 2023, I may be a good fitting candidate to get this proposal done. I am well aware and quite engaged at both ecosystems Cardano as Polkadot and will engage the right people around the uniFires community to make sure the proposals success has everyone and everything needed.

As for accountability, I have been part of Cardano Catalyst proposals since earliest days, and I always delivered on the proposals I have been part of.

What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

Milestone 1: Milestone 1: Ideation & Team Building

Milestone outcomes:

  • Assemble a Cardano X Polkadot cross-chain event organizer team.
  • Develop initial concepts for the event format.

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Successfully established event organiser team
  • Completed event format

Evidence of Milestone completion

  • Public link to a public document, outlining the event format, including a team section to list event organiser team members

Milestone 2: Milestone 2: Enable cross funding & work out event details

Milestone Outcomes:

  • Enable funding support for the event from polkadot ecosystem, e.g through OpenGov or Events Bounty
  • Define the Event details, such as schedule and agenda, place and dates, booking etc

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Successfully enabled funding support from the Polkadot ecosystem
  • Create a event website which displays all event details

Evidence of Milestone completion

  • Link to transaction on polkadot blockchain for received funding support
  • Public url to the event website

Milestone 3: Milestone 3: Event Execution

  • Host the first Cardano X Polkadot cross chain workshop in europe.
  • Create a brief event summary, including videos/photos taken from the live event

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Successfully host the Cardano X Polkadot cross chain workshop in europe
  • Completed brief event summary, including videos/photos taken from the live event

Evidence of Milestone completion

  • Brief event summary, including videos/photos taken from the live event

Final Milestone: Milestone 4: Event Playbook Development

  • Create the open-source playbook with detailed guidelines for future cross-chain events.
  • Create a close out report
  • Create a close out video

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Completed open-source playbook with detailed guidelines for future cross-chain events.
  • Completed close out report
  • Completed close out video

Evidence of Milestone completion

  • Public url to open-source playbook with detailed guidelines for future cross-chain events.
  • Public url to close out report
  • Public url to out video

Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Hey, I'm Felix, full time Cardano and Cardano Ambassador since 2021.

While there will be several collaborators, i will take the responsibility to lead on this proposal.

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

Efficient Resource Allocation: Our budget is focused on the essentials—event organizing, venue, food and drinks, and travel costs for speakers—ensuring we cover all critical elements necessary for a successful event while avoiding unnecessary expenses.

Long-term Benefits through Open-Source Playbook: By creating an open-source event playbook, we ensure that the knowledge, structure, and processes for organizing cross-chain events are openly shared. This provides a reusable resource for others in the Cardano ecosystem, leading to future cost savings when organizing similar events.

Community Building and Knowledge Sharing: Through our workshops, we aim to foster collaboration between Cardano and Polkadot builders. These collaborations can lead to new partnerships, shared insights, and innovations that will ultimately yield long-term returns for the entire ecosystem.

Scalability and Replicability: Our project is designed to be scalable and replicable. By developing blueprints and guidelines that others can follow, we can ensure that the initial investment facilitates multiple future events across different ecosystems, thereby maximizing the value derived from this project.

In-Person Engagement: We believe that hosting in-person events will deepen relationships within the community, accelerating growth and strengthening the Cardano ecosystem. The value of face-to-face networking, direct collaboration, and meaningful discussions is significant in advancing the adoption and development of our technology.
