Cardano developer courseware in Uni

Please describe your proposed solution.

Problems/Current Status:

With close access to online/offline communities, universities we are seeing:

  • IT students are the core force in developing Blockchain applications in the near future, however, there are currently no official and standardized teaching materials on Blockchain in the University.
  • Curriculum writing and approval are subject to the University's approval processes. it often takes time in some universities.
  • With ~55K IT students graduating yearly, The expected shortage of human resources in IT- in Vietnam (need 530k- view data here), but students are equipped with limited blockchain knowledge, not meeting the human resource needs of Vietnam and the world.
  • Blockchain documents are scattered in many places in the English language.
  • Most developers in Vietnam understand the blockchain programming language is solidity, there are many other blockchain platforms such as NEAR, SOLANA, COSMOS that are investing in free programming teaching on their platforms to attract developers. .

Problem-solving:

Project participants include a team of lecturers with many years of experience in teaching and writing specialized IT textbooks. Understand the process of creating and publishing textbooks in Universities to realize the publication of Blockchain textbooks and put them into practice.

  • The project team will work with Emurgo on standardizing the curriculum and assign Trainers to attend training courses directly from Emurgo. These participants will be key members in composing/translating courseware.
  • We will bring these textbooks into the teaching of students/developers, collect feedback from the survey, and improve the curriculum.
  • Train the trainer: Experienced trainers will share and accompany the new Trainers.

Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

With the above problem solutions, we believe that the project will be completely suitable for the challenge because:

  • There are many Developers who are or plan to learn and practice on other blockchain platforms such as NEAR, SOLANA, BSC… When the course is put into mainstream teaching, these students will be core developers for Cardano and are active participants in Catalyst
  • The project is expected to provide blockchain developers for enterprises.

The proposal will create learning materials for developers when they are students at university. With standardized documents, students will shorten the time to learn and practice to become professional Developers on the Cardano blockchain platform. This could be an amazing experience for them resulting in greater developer adoption, productivity, and innovation.

What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

Emurgo does not agree to cooperate: We really want the deployment of dApp applications to the Cardano platform in many Universities in Vietnam, this will be done faster and more accurately when the Emurgo team engages, consults, and orients- This is the direction we believe will get consensus from Emurgo. However, We will send our people to enroll in Emurgo courses and then build the curriculum.

Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

We divide the plan into 02 phases:

Phase 1 (apply in F9)

First month:

  • Organized a scientific conference demonstrating the need to include blockchain in the academic curriculum for university students.
  • Negotiate and cooperate with Emurgo, and sign cooperation agreements.
  • Set standards of knowledge and skills for students when successfully completing the blockchain module.

Second month:

  • Write a detailed outline of the syllabus (for 50 hours) for Fundamental and advanced courses where:
  • The Fundamental course is considered to include: What is Blockchain?, Cryptographic, Consensus Algorithms, Smart contracts, Future of Blockchain…),
  • The advanced course=Fundamental course+(Introduction to Cardano, Marlowe, Haskell, Plutus…)
  • Assign members to prepare learning materials (CALENDAR, LECTURE SLIDES, READINGS, STUDY QUESTIONS, ASSIGNMENTS)
  • The assigned members collect documents for their respective items

Fourth month:

  • Create courses materials
  • Collect Feedback from experienced experts in evaluating the content of learning materials.
  • Update Syllabus

Fifth month:

  • Applied to teaching at the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Transport and Communications.
  • Get feedback from students
  • Update, edit, supplement, and complete learning materials.

Phase 2 (apply in F10)

  • Bring learning materials into teaching at other universities.
  • Organize application development contests on the Cardano Blockchain platform.
  • Organize students to do scientific research and graduate thesis with topics deployed on Blockchain Cardano.
  • Cooperate with enterprises on training human resources to develop applications on a blockchain platform.

How our team manages the workload among funded projects:

  • Many of our projects use community resources. With these projects, the core team will focus on building a mechanism to encourage people from the community to participate and ensure the quality of the output.
  • Some of the work in the projects will be outsourced such as marketing, content design, event preparation, and survey implementation.
  • The core team will hold weekly meetings with project managers to capture progress updates, barriers, and solutions.

We also apply these solutions to handle the workloads:

  • Create a full list of projects and processes with the responsibility of each member
  • Define the timeline and scope of each task in projects, set the priorities for each task, visualize progress and set realistic deadlines.
  • We do analyze the workload of our team to determine the workload of the entire team and individual team members

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

We plan the budget based on the task we have to complete in each milestone. and here is the detail

  • Conference organization expenses (Invite experts, Rent a room, projector, drink, banner, design backdrop, invitations …..): $1,000

  • Budget reserve for Emugo courses for 04 instructors: $6,000

  • Budget to pay for 04 instructors to attend the training courses $9,600

  • Estimated cost for building knowledge standards $1,280

  • Plan the content and assign members to prepare learning materials $1,280

  • The assigned members collect documents for their respective items $1,920

  • Budget for creating slides $6,400

  • Budget for creating questions and exercises $4,480

  • Budget for creating assignments and format (form, template…) $4,480

  • Budget for reviewing courseware $1,920

  • Budget for updating the courseware $1,920

If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

We only seek funding for creating Fundamental courses and Advanced courses (Cardano Blockchain for developers ) only. We have reserved funding from University to bring these courses into teaching.

Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

Cardano community will be able to measure our project's progress via these below metrics:

  1. No. developers enrolled in classes of Universities
  2. Number of pioneers in teaching "Cardano Blockchain for developers" courses
  3. Fine-tunning coursewares
  4. Monthly update video on the website Cardano2vn.io
  5. Net Promoter Score (NPS) from students

Our KPI for this project at completion time should be:

  1. 50 students in the first enrollment
  2. 04 trained instructors
  3. 02 coursewares
  4. 04 monthly videos
  5. NPS: 80% rating in 9 and 10 scores

This information will be available on our website - carrdano2vn.io for public access.

What does success for this project look like?

When the project is successful, the project's curriculum will be used as the official teaching material. During the first 5 months, there will be about 50 students - future developers equipped with solid knowledge of Blockchain Cardano. They are also the pioneering workforce for blockchain human resources for Vietnamese businesses.

With this success, the teaching material will be widely applied in at least 03 universities. This program could provide at least 300 blockchain developers every year.

Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is an entirely new proposal.

Additional information:

We had successfully implemented the project Catalyst Events 4 Vietnam Students, Through this project, we saw the demand and potential from students in the blockchain field at universities, so

This proposal and "Cardano developer club in Uni" proposal are very practical for potential developers in the near future.

We would like to thank you for reading the entire project, your vote for this proposal has a strong power in supporting and motivating students to participate more deeply in the field of programming for blockchain in general and for Cardano in particular.

This proposal may not only bring more developers to the community at one university but can be a sample framework for others wishing to expand the Cardano ecosystem in their own communities faster and stabilize so…your votes are really important.
