Solution

I seek to educate these redundant non-technical Senior High School leavers about Cardano blockchain and Project Catalyst opportunities. This awareness will help them in their tertiary education.

Problem

There are many Senior High School graduates at home, who do not have any knowledge about Cardano. They are currently redundant at home waiting to enter Universities. They need to hear about Cardano.

Cardano Awareness For Redundant Senior High School Leavers In Ghana

Please describe your proposed solution

With this project, I seek to educate about 150 youth who have completed Senior High Schools in Ghana, and are currently at home, hoping to gain admission into Tertiary Institutions. This period is mostly an idle moment in the lives of such students, and thus a problem for parents in Ghana.

Most of these school leavers do not know about Cardano and Project Catalyst. I want to educate them in an education seminar and create awareness about Cardano blockchain and Project Catalyst among them.

There will be two sessions within two months, so one session per month with an anticipated number of participants at 75 per session hopefully. These school leavers will be scouted from my community in Accra. They will mainly be found in Churches in my community; so flyers with the appropriate information will be sent to the churches to get these youth to attend the program.

The contents of the education material will be fundamentals of Cardano Blockchain and Project Catalyst opportunities. These will be in PowerPoint slides which will be facilitated by a competent active member of the ecosystem, Mr. Nathaniel Dwamena of YAFO Institute Ghana.

The impact of such education seminar among these youth include the following:

  • These school leavers are part of the grassroots in my community. When I educate them about Cardano blockchain and Project Catalyst, they will be able to take part in the various roles in the Cardano community, and they will appreciate such a great opportunity.
  • Currently, blockchain education is gradually becoming popular in Ghana, and therefore getting these youth to be educated about Cardano blockchain will actually increase their knowledge and will help them in their Tertiary education for higher heights. Ghana has gone digital in many daily transactions, so knowledge in this will get these youth to understand what blockchain entails and the benefits in being part of the ecosystem.
  • Senior High School leavers idling about, without work and not yet in the Universities in Ghana, has been a big problem. So when they are educated in Cardano, they will have a source of productive engagement using their mobile phones to learn about Cardano blockchain, get involved in the telegram chats, and even the Town Hall meetings; thus cutting down on social vices.
  • This will eventually lead to expansion in the Cardano ecosystem in Ghana and globally.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

This project will positively impact the wider Cardano community in terms of the following:

  1. With the education of 150 youth in Ghana, the ecosystem is obviously going to be impacted positively. There will be expansion and growth.
  2. The Cardano blockchain will be popular in Ghana and thus attract more people beyond the expected 150 youth for the seminar, to join the ecosystem and thus affect the ecosystem in the wider sense.
  3. Involvement in roles such as proposers, reviewers, voters would lead to efficiency in the work in the ecosystem.
  4. In the future, more technical experts will be emerged from this education.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

My name is Emelia Sarfo, who has been a member of the Cardano Community since 2021. I am a Human Resource Practitioner by profession. I am also a marketer and an educator in voluntary work.

I have been a Funded Proposer in Fund 8 and Fund 9 for the projects Ghana Youth Onboarding Outreach 1 and 2 respectively. I also got funded in Fund10 for the project Catalyst Outreach 4 The Unreached in Ghana, which all these projects were completed successfully with great impacts in Ghana, and the ecosystem as a whole.

I have been a Reviewer since Fund 6 to date.

I have also been a Veteran PA and Moderator from Fund 7 and Fund 9 to date.

I am also a Milestone Reviewer from Fund 10 to date

I was a member of PoL for Fund 10 and 11 and a Challenge Team member for Fund 8 and 9.

I can be trusted with funding for this project based on my achievements in the ecosystem as described here, which can be checked easily in the ecosystem.

When Fund 13 project is funded, more youth will be added to the ecosystem as I have done in previous funds.

What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

Milestone 1: Based on the time of funding, the first milestone might be started and completed in February 2025. Budget for milestone 1 will be 14000 ADA

Expected Outputs:

  • Set specific date for the first seminar
  • Venue search for the seminar
  • Flyer with information on date set, time and venue for the program
  • Agenda of program to done

Acceptance Criteria:

  • 1st session expectation of participants is 75 youth
  • video coverage of program
  • Education content of fundamentals of Cardano Blockchain and Project Catalyst opportunities in slides
  • Refreshments for participants

Evidence of milestone completion:

  • PDF document on flyer and list of participants in google drive link
  • Video link of seminar in google drive for the community to see the evidence

Milestone 2: The second and final milestone is expected to be completed in March 2025. Budget for Final milestone will be 14000 ADA.

Expected Outputs:

  • Specific date in March to be set
  • Specific venue to be acquired
  • Flyer done for marketing
  • Agenda of program done

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Expecting 75 participants for second and final session.
  • Video coverage of program done
  • Education Content of Fundamentals of Cardano Blockchain and Project Catalyst opportunities in slides.
  • Refreshments for participants

Evidence of Completion:

  • PDF document on flyer and list of participants in google drive
  • Video link of seminar in google drive for the community to watch.

Final Milestone: Final Milestone:

  • Close-out document on the whole project
  • Close-out video on the whole project

Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Emelia Sarfo- Project Lead. She will organize the programs, search for venues, acquire equipment, stationery, etc for the program

Nathaniel Dwamena- a member of the ecosystem, with high experience in blockchain, a Funded proposer and a very active member in the ecosystem. He is also the CEO of YAFO Institute which is prominent in the ecosystem. He will be the facilitator for the Fundamentals of Cardano Blockchain and Project Catalyst opportunities in the seminar.

Kingsley Ampofo- a member of the ecosystem and a funded proposer in Fund 9 with the project Catalyst Students Platform. He completed his project successfully. He will assist in the organization of the program, list participants and help refresh participants.

Other support team as needed people to help in organizing and serving, etc.

Please provide a cost breakdown of the proposed work and resources

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The cost for this project is a real value for money, taking into consideration the current cost of venues, stationery, and all items listed in the budget. Everything in Ghana now is quite expensive, and as always with my previous funded proposals, I have been very generous because my aim is to get more youth to change their lives by gaining knowledge in Cardano blockchain for a better future. So spanning through my projects I have been very moderate. Considering the expected impact, this project is worth being funded to expand the ecosystem in Ghana and Cardano globally.

Thanks to Cardano for helping me to contribute to expanding Cardano in Ghana.
