[C2VN]: Cardano Coffee Lounge in Universities (P2)

Please describe your proposed solution.

Information about Cardano, Catalyst, programming languages Haskell, Marlowe, Plutus, and integrations is scattered all over the internet and mostly in English.

There have been many crypto-related scams that have lost the trust of participants, thus we need to have periodic activities with specific content to increase trust and create solid connections in the community.

At Catalyst F8, we were funded and completed 40 discussions and discussions about Blockchain in 2 big cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. There are also other impactful results such as the creation of a large Cardano Vietnamese community: Many people, many proposals have been submitted to Catalyst and funded.

We currently have two locations for Cardano Coffee Lounge sessions at Coffee shops in densely populated areas. In 2022, we introduced Cardano, Catalyst to faculty and students at technical universities. We realized that we need to give them a more friendly environment. They have the opportunity to interact and understand more about Cardano and Catalyst. So with this project, we will extend the model to universities. We will organize at the coffee shop of the university library or the coffee shop on or near the university, with the aim of reaching more students and faculty.

Image file

Image file

We already have a technical and community hub in Vietnam. This model will work and take care of interested people on online channels only while many developers will feel closer and more confident when they are able to attend the discussion offline. In this open discussion, they can ask anything related to Cardano, they can connect with the right members and partners.

Our goal is to organize weekly seminars in cafes for the students. We will organize meetups and seminars for developers who want to learn about blockchain and the Cardano Blockchain, starting from the basic level like what is Blockchain, how to create and use wallets (Yoroi, Daedalus.. ), staking with Cardano, share project implementation experiences on Project Catalyst, how to become SPO, Proponent, CR then advanced courses like deploy smart contract Marlove, Plutus, generating token, generating NFT, DAOS or integration.

We will also invite key opinion leaders (Experts, Teachers, Students) to discuss Cardano’s adoption

By choosing suitable coffee shops in university or university library areas.

We will have advantages:

  • Cardano's image is promoted.
  • Catalyst will be promoted to more developers, especially lecturers.
  • Students(developers) who are the great human resources of Blockchain future.
  • Reasonable cost to run the event.
  • The shop attracts more customers.

Workshop attendees will be greeted with a surprise discount when ordering coffee, encouraged to share their ideas, and prioritized support during and after the event.

The workshops will be live-streamed so that both online and offline audiences could attend. By conducting in this way, we are able to address people's questions directly and provide them with more interesting experiences in learning.

How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?

We propose to solve the problems presented by the challenge in the following ways:

From previous funding rounds, we have built a technical documentation center (www.cardano2vn.io; <https://www.youtube.com/@cardano2vn>). There is a lot of information that is being shared with many Vietnamese people. In addition, in the past, there have been many sources of documents from the international community such as Mesh, Blockfrost, and Demeter… These resources make it easier for anyone to develop applications using Cardano.

"How do we attract developers from outside of our current community to participate in Catalyst?"

In this proposal, we host a weekly workshop with many lecturers and students of technical universities at the Coffee shop, to lower the entry barrier for developers and increase the number of active developers. Thereby increasing the number of open-source projects.

During these seminars, we provide information to the community. The result will be increased awareness of Cardano among attendees, especially IT students at each meeting, encouraging them to participate in a variety of roles within Catalyst (proposer, CR: L0, L1, L2, and Voter). So that Cardano adoption will be higher. Plus also give them technical information such as Haskell & Plutus programming languages and integrations. Thus, they can build applications and dApps on the Cardano Blockchain platform.

How do you intend to measure the success of your project?

We can feed the Cardano developer ecosystem and measure it with the parameters:

  • Number of times meetup offline.
  • Number of videos posted on Youtube.
  • Number of participants.
  • Number of proposals sent to the Project Catalyst.

Our "definition of done" of this proposal is:

  • run 18 meetups in Hanoi
  • run 18 meetups in Ho Chi Minh
  • At least 500 developers attend
  • 10 proposers submit to Catalyst
  • 30 CR onboards
  • 100 new Cardano members onboard

At the end of the project, we will continue some of the following items:

  • Organize periodic discussions and sharing for free or paid.
  • Connecting newcomers with Blockchain Cardano and Catalyst fund.

Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?

We will share weekly offline meetups at coffee shops with open spaces at technical universities. To share the outputs and results of our project, we have the following plans:

1.Project Reports (PoM and PoA):

We will submit a Statement of Milestones (SoM) which will be published, reviewed, and approved by Community Reviewers. In each Milestone, we will public Proof of Achievement (PoA) to provide evidence that the milestone for which they have already been paid has been achieved.

2.Public outputs/results on our website

We will outputs/results on our website at cardano2vn.io where interested individuals can access our update proactively. Discuss or query us about any topics they prefer.

3.Share output/result to Online platforms (Cardano Forum, Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, Youtube, and GitHub):

These will be places we share updates, success stories, and best practices. These will allow us to reach a larger audience and gather feedback and suggestions from the community, fostering a collaborative approach to decentralized identity adoption

We will create a comprehensive report summarizing the key findings, achievements, and lessons learned from the project. This report will be shared with stakeholders, including university faculty, industry partners, and the community.
