Solution

We will develop a Build-an-NFT Minting Technology that can be used throughout the Cardano NFT Ecosystem. Currently, our technology runs on all ERC compatible blockchains.

Problem

The current NFT ecosystem is in its earliest form with sets of 1, 5, or 10,000 NFTs that are randomly generated. Though, users want to be able to build their own NFT for gaming.

Build-an-NFT Minting Functionality!

Please describe your proposed solution.

Cardano has many firsts that distinguish it from any other cryptocurrency, and Cardano’s NFT Ecosystem can innovate some more firsts for Cardano. That is where we propose to build the “Build-an-NFT” model of distribution.

The “Build-an-NFT” functionality allows for unique NFTs to be built by the user on the project’s website. This new minting/building functionality would be a great movement away from the grab-bag systems that we have come to expect within the ecosystem and provide new ways of distributing NFTs that are more natural for users.

Examples, as can be seen in the images below, would be the ability to pick which parts are on your NFT. In the example of Flooftopia, it would be the ability to choose the parts (head, nose, mouth, ears, etc), size of the parts, their positioning, and their colors or patterns.

This “Build-an-NFT” functionality would see application within the Cardano NFT Gaming Ecosystem and many other ecosystems as it is developed further.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community.

The impact that our technology has on the wider community is that Cardano will be one of only two blockchains with this technology. This means that gaming, metaverse, and other NFT projects will have a unique edge over other projects and blockchains. On top of that, users will be empowered by projects to create their very own NFTs!

We will measure this impact by the amount of projects, users, and NFTs that utilize the Build-an-NFT Minting Functionality.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

We have built this and delivered it on Polygon, and have begun the early stage work to bring it to Cardano. Also, we were forward thinking with the building, so we know that this technology can be implemented on any blockchain with NFT capabilities. Finally, we also have gotten funding for a separate proposal, and have a 100% completion rating within Project Catalyst.

What are the key milestones you need to achieve in order to complete your project successfully?

  • Complete preliminary processes and obtain of documentation for implementing the Build-an-NFT Minting Functionality on Cardano.

>- Build-an-NFT Minting Technology available on Testnet.

>- Build-an-NFT Minting Technology available on Cardano Mainnet!

Who is in the project team and what are their roles?

Coding: Dirk worked for Ubisoft, founded two gaming studios as a Dev Lead, and is currently working as a Technical Architect. He is the go-to guy, well-versed in everything tech-related, with 20 years of experience!

(LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dirk-potulski-71313428/))

Art: Christian is our Illustrator and UX Designer with more than 15 years of professional work in digital art, gamification, interface- and app design in the industry. Starting as a big fan of the classic "point & click" adventures (e.g., Monkey Island, Beneath a Steel Sky, Day of the Tentacle) on DOS and hoarding tons of comic books, he turned his geek hobby into an ever-expanding full-time job!

(LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christian-hayungs-9ba22457/))

Strategic Advisor: Marcin worked in marketing, sales, and project management for THQ, Ubisoft, CI Games, Daedalic Entertainment, and Rockstar. In the past 10 years, he has helped some start-ups in their initial phase, and he will provide additional guidance for Flooftopia, as well!

(LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marcin-kugla-a92b5964/))

Game Design: Alex worked as a creative director at Ubisoft's campus and as lead developer of Faith and Honor Barbarossa. He has considerable experience researching psychological and neurological sweet spots in game-based learning. With over 4 years of experience in game design, Alex is geared to bring the best gaming experience to Flooftopia!

(LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexander-cimpeanu-b9507a112/))

Marketing: Conward is the lead of marketing and founder of Flooftopia! He has been within the Cardano Ecosystem for 3 years. He is the host of The Cardano Convo Podcast, and he is an avid gamer at heart. After noticing that there weren't any NFT games being built for a broad demographic, he began putting together the ideas that would define Flooftopia!

(LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/conwardswift/))

Together, we have decades of professional gaming and business experience. We know that games are a great way to bring people together and into the Cardano Ecosystem. With this in mind, we will create an NFT gaming experience that caters to all ages and the broadest possible demographic.

We are all avid gamers and want to create an inclusive environment that mirrors Cardano's culture and environment.

Please provide a cost breakdown of the proposed work and resources.

Coding/Implementation: ~$50,000 (~500 hours @ $100/hr)

  • This include frontend integration, backend integration, and minting functionalities.

Marketing: $10,000

Total: $60,000 (150,000 ADA * $0.40)

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

Given that most of our team is in Germany, we have used the rates that we have been quoted. Also, given that Cardano mints natively to the chain as opposed to using a smart contract, we will need time to get up-to-date documentation for minting, ensure that the mint functions properly/connects correctly, and that the functionality is proper on, first the testnet then, the mainnet.
