Better Governance for Community and Professional Groups with Cardano DAO Tools

Please describe your proposed solution

There are thousands of community and professional groups in existence in Nigeria operating at the national and sub-national (state) levels. While these groups have existed for decades in some instances others are recently formed. The primary goals of these groups are to further the interests of their members collectively and promote their professions.

Besides operating at the national level, some have branches in several states across the country. Some of the associations or professional groups have thousands of members while others are in hundreds.

There have been instances of disputed elections among other governance-related issues thus holding back their effectiveness.

We believe we can enhance transparency and accountability within these community and professional groups with the introduction of Cardano DAO tools.

We plan to make presentations to the leadership and subsequently to the members providing general blockchain education and the potentials of Cardano DAO tools in addressing some of their challenges.

The outreaches and presentations are veritable avenues for onboarding new users and increasing blockchain adoption.

The available Cardano DAO tools will in our opinion provide effective platforms and tools that will enhance governance and afford these groups opportunity for greater effectiveness.

The Clarity DAO Medium article clearly articulates the various phases of organizational transformation with respect to the DAO structure. We believe our target community and professional groups can easily fit into any of these phases as they adopt the DAO structure or tools to enhance their effectiveness and impact.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

An initial first step is educating leaders and members of these groups on the potential of Blockchain in addressing some of the challenges holding their effectiveness.

We believe the proposal if implemented will have the following positive impacts on the Cardano ecosystem:

  • onboarding of new users (Target of 500 new Cardano users)
  • increased adoption of the Cardano blockchain
  • Collaboration and deeper understanding of the needs of these groups and building/adapting DAO tools to meet their needs.

Impact measurements will involve the following on-chain and off-chain metrics:

  • Number of presentations/workshops to the leadership and members of the community and professional groups. (8 to 10 presentations).
  • Number of new to Cardano wallets opened.( Target of 500 new users).
  • Number of groups or associations engaged in deep dive sessions.
  • Number of groups adopting DAO tools (Target of 5 community and professional groups adopting Cardano DAO tools)
  • Formation of new DAOs

We plan to have a repository of findings and reports from the project on a website/Github together with reports to Project Catalyst Community.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

The team behind the project comes with valuable experience both within and outside of web3 and a strong commitment to delivering sustainable solutions. To ensure this is achieved, the project has been divided into phases and milestones with clear deliverables.

Ona Ohimor

The lead proposer is a finance professional and trainer. He has been in web3 for over three years, initially as a crypto enthusiast but now a Blockchain and Web3 evangelist. He has trained and on-boarded dozens of newbies to Blockchain. Besides, his passion for blockchain, he is an advocate for small and growing businesses and provides functional skills and enterprise development training for businesses.

He has been active within the Cardano community since Fund 10 as a Proposer and Community Reviewer (L!) subsequently as a Moderator (L2). In addition, he has actively explored the available DAO tools and infrastructure within the Cardano Community including Clarity and Summons DAO tools.

To validate our approach, we will engage the larger Cardano community and in particular work with the DAO infrastructure teams such as Clarity and Summons among others to deliver most fitting solutions to the target professional and community groups.
