Solution

Prototype and build a MVP decentralized delivery system that leverages moto-taxis to create a more efficient system for all players

Problem

Delivery systems in Cameroon are mostly centralized and do not leverage advantages offered by the local transportation system context.

Our main objective is to conduct a deep research, complete our white paper and implement a MVP for a decentralized delivery system that leverage the thousands of motorcycles, tricycle taxi present in main cities in Cameroon. The system will manage home delivery and pickups, that rely on already existing local transportation. Our DAO will allow anyone with a moving medium (moto-taxi, tricycle, taxi ..etc) to join our delivery personnel network after they successfully pass our reputation algorithm build with local context and values in mind. They will have a chance to pick up items for delivery based on optimizing the path from where suits them most for both pickups and deliveries. Customers will have the possibility to redirect notifications they get from travel agencies, grocery stores …etc for their package status updates to our system. The latest will be assigned to the closest moto-taxi in the pick up area. (This will be done through a fair and equitable algorithm). The service coast will be suggested by the customer and once this is validated by both parties, the moto-taxi man will pick up and deliver the package. Another use case for this system will be for grocery delivery. Customers will be able to place orders with third party businesses (grocery store, supermarket center ..etc) trough a mobile or web interface and notify our system for delivery. Again a moto-taxi man will be connected and a contract will be secured between the delivery personnel and the customer to deliver the goods.

The impact of our platform will be multi-dimensional:

From a customer seeking a delivery service perspective:

  • less time and money will be spent in transport
  • accidents risks in rush hours will be significantly reduced
  • More economical

From the delivery personnel,

  • new work opportunities will arise

From the social and environmental perspective:

  • The traffic will be significantly reduced due to our aggregation and delivery combination algorithms
  • Co2 Pollution will also be reduced

From a business point of view

  • Customers that go away for non availability will have the option to place order and get delivered
  • An opportunity to to acquire a new customer base

From gas and oil company perspective:

  • The Co2 offset due to delivery aggregation / combination will be an opportunity for positive advertising

In a specific way, the following subsystem are potential sub-modules of the MVP product.

  1. An IAM system that leverages Atala prism Software Development Kit (SDK). This will be the foundational building block for the governance and reputation management modules
  2. A delivery Aggregation and optimization sub-module to combine trips in the optimal way.
  3. Tokenize the CO2 emissions offset that results from aggregating and combining trips with same destinations and pickup points
  4. A notification system and an interface for stakeholders: For delivery personnel it will be a proximity based notification and for customers delivery status updates
  5. Work with local microfinance institution to model an exchange mechanism that will allow transaction from (to) physical local currencies as needed
  6. Model a native token pegged to the value of the local currency for micro-payment within the network for a later version. For the MVP version we will stick to mobile money payment options
  7. A mobile app with a payment interface including a QR code for managing transactions within our DAO network

We intend to complete the research we started on this project a few years ago. We are also aiming to deliver a MVP (minimal viable product) that will set the stage for next funding round.

--

The main risk is that we do not get funding to pursue the work that was started a couple of years ago

--

  • 3 months post funding - Complete project specification and start research on the ground
  • 6 months post funding - specification for MVP DAO system fully elaborated, designed and ready to implement
  • 12 months post funding- successful launch of MVP DAO, allowing users to test the system. 100s of users signing up and engaging in our DAO.

Budget (12 months): $9 000

  • Ground surveys & interview logistics (recording materials, and displacement costs): $500
  • Team motivations (3 Developers $150 x 12 months): $5 500
  • Motorcycle (2*$1000): $2 000
  • Project oversight and coordination: $1 000

  • A fully redacted specification document
  • A completed white paper for future implementation
  • A fully functioning MVP

We will also track:

  • Number of people seeking delivery services / month
  • Number of moto-taxi-men joining our MVP DAO / month
  • The number of micro-payment happening on our platform / month

  • 3 months post funding - Complete project specification and start research on the ground
  • 6 months post funding - specification for MVP DAO system fully elaborated, designed and ready to implement
  • 12 months post funding- successful launch of MVP DAO, allowing users to test the system. 100s of users signing up and engaging in this DAO.
