Please describe your proposed solution.
Artboardz collaborates with urban artists by building a bridge between digital and physical artworks. Artists create a digital asset, and through the power of NFT technology, the asset is minted by collectors, and the proceeds are used to fund the creation of the physical counterpart, a mural, by the same artist.
This innovative approach has three major benefits. Firstly, Artboardz onboards, supports, and promotes new and talented artists. These artists, sometimes struggling to make ends meet, are now selling their art in the form of NFTs to a market unlimited in size. Not just selling but also receiving royalties in perpetuity. And as these artists gain notoriety, their growing local and global support base will be onboarded into the Cardano ecosystem.
Secondly, the murals, all imbued with positive messages, bring color and life to cities. It is a type of urban beautification that is not only appreciated by passersby but also serves to educate them on how the digital and physical can coexist.
Thirdly, each mural features tasteful Cardano branding. We feel that the community at large needs to learn more about Cardano because the technology and community are truly bringing about positive change in the world. We would like to do our bit to help get the word out.
Artboardz has already trialed this model in South Africa’s mother city, Cape Town. Four unique murals adorn the city, each one the physical embodiment of their digital blueprint. We will soon offer walking tours where locals and visitors alike will be able to not only visit the murals but also enjoy an immersive viewing experience through the incorporation of augmented reality.
In addition, we have already started collaborating with various merchants who will offer discounts to holders of Artboardz NFTs on their products and services. One such venue is the Cardano Center in Salt River, Cape Town.
This model will be rolled out to cafes, bars, and retail outlets, basically any vendor that believes in our mission and wants to reward holders who uplift artists. From the tip of Africa, Artboardz is expanding to Toronto, Mexico City, Brisbane, and beyond as we strengthen our message and garner support for a worthwhile cause.
Our team has already given physical expression to NFTs in the form of murals. We now hope to integrate with NMKR Studio APIs in order to give our artists complete control of their minting proceeds and royalties earned from secondary sales. By merging the Artboardz vision with NMKR’s tech stack, we can enhance the earning potential of artists and further the broader Cardano cause.
How does your proposed solution address the challenge and what benefits will this bring to the Cardano ecosystem?
This Building on NMKR challenge is about empowering projects to further advance the NFT Ecosystem on Cardano by creating tools that integrate the NMKR Studio API. We believe our proposed solution fully addresses this challenge and opens up NMKR and Cardano to new real-world artists and global collectors.
While NMKR provides all of the tools for degen projects to distribute their NFTs better, Artboardz believes it can help guide NMKR in tackling new real-world issues, such as the sale of NFTs at real-world events to non-crypto holders.
How do you intend to measure the success of your project?
We aim to launch Artboardz in Mexico City, Toronto, and Brisbane by onboarding a local urban artist in each city to create at least one physical mural with Cardano branding on it. Moreover, we will attempt to onboard at least one merchant in each city that will provide discounts to all Artboardz NFT holders at their venue.
Lastly, we will develop at least one mini-walking tour that provides an AR overlay with an audio recording to give tourists a much more immersive mural viewing experience.
Please describe your plans to share the outputs and results of your project?
The Artboardz website showcases all projects, including information about the collection, the artist, the location, and the patrons of the collection. In fact, users can see the alias of patrons for each project and the overall supporters of the broader Artboardz initiative.
We will also be providing regular updates and communications via Twitter.
