Solution

Our goal is designing a pilote of blockchain enbaled microgrid including: smart meter, smart contract and peer to peer Energy Market

Problem

How can Africans produce, consume, share, sell and buy P2P Renewable Energy in a micro grid using Cardano tokens and Smart contracts ?

African P2P Energy Sharing Dapp

Our proposed solution will enable a blockchain based energy peer to peer market, where Africans can produce clean energy and share it through a micro grid with different consumers. The goal of this solution is to develop a smart energy meter based on blockchain where it is behaving like a node in the micro grid that not only calculate the energy production and the energy consumption, but also share data with different grid prosumers, providing a secure solution, smart contract and a decentralized application. This device is also connected to a secure Cardano wallet where prosumers can sell and buy energy using Cardano.

With this fund we target a village microgrid (10 houses to 20) to encourage people to produce and consume green energy typically solar and wind energy that create a cleaner environment and a free markets without the monopoly of utilty companies. This targeted village shall be a pilote before scaling up.

The impact of the provided features in our solution is enabling a peer to peer energy market in an African micro grid which will help us to encourage people to produce and consume green energy typically solar and wind energy that create a cleaner environment and a free markets without utilty companies.

We could continue to seed and grow Cardano in Africa by providing tech-use solutions for African problems. Electrification, sustainable energy production and sharing are main challenges and opportunities to improve the quality of life in remote villages. Our project will provide a local impact. The developped framework will enable the villagers to produce and share energy, hence creating a source of income. The energy exchanged is mainly from decentralized photovoltaic panels. We are planning to bring new Cardano users and collaborating with local NGOs.

Technical: security, hack, bugs

Operational: Trust, Energy Availability, microgrid availablity

Socio-economic: low income (producers can't invest in renewable solutions), price of equipments.

Legal: the use of crypto currency, Energy power sharing legislation.

We are planning to develop our solution within 12 months. Hereby the detailed milestones of delivery:

After 3 months:

Design and manufacturing of the first smart meter prototype (v.1)

Publishing a peer reviewed research article.

At the 5th month:

Embedding a secure system using SHA-256 algorithm for hashing

Embedding a broadcasting system that shares real time energy transactions with different meters.

Proposing a draft of the smart contract architecture

Releasing the 2nd version of the Smart meter (v2)

At the 9 month:

Developping a real time energy bidding system using Cardano

Connect the developped prototype with prosumers Cardano Wallets

Releasing a testnet working version of the solution

Finding a suitable site for solution deployment (village)

At the 12th month:

Installing at least 10 prototypes in a real African Microgrid with different energy sources

Introducing African prosumers to cardano wallet and solution through webinars and field compaign

Smart contract audit level 1.

Post project:

Studying the behaviors of prosumers in order to improve the prototype

The budget will be devided in the following categories:

  • PCB and Enclosure development : 10% (2000 $)
  • Smart contract developement: 10% (2000 $)
  • Smart contract audit : 5% (1000 $)
  • Software/Mobile App development: 10% (2000 $)
  • Marketing, legal agreements and partnerships: 20% (4000 $)
  • Manufacturing first batch of the smart meters (10): 25% (5000 $)
  • Field Implementation and testing: 30% (6000 $)
