Solution

By working with ADAO Community and Boss DAO, I will learn more about Cardano and the technical aspects of how to organize and benefit a DAO.

Problem

There are very few resources available for students to develop practical skills on Cardano. The blockchain is in need of student workers.

ADAO Learning Grant

Please describe your proposed solution.

My solution will allow myself, a student, to build with notable DAO builders in the space. This grant will supply my cost of living as well as increase my quality of life while researching and contributing to ADAO and Boss DAO. This way I can be more focused on my Cardano project and not have to find a fiat job.

Please describe how your proposed solution will address the Challenge that you have submitted it in.

My proposed solution will address the Challenge by allowing for students to work on Cardano without significant risk and financial stress. This is important as students often have significant ideas & capabilities, but no resources to accomplish them or even get started.

What are the main risks that could prevent you from delivering the project successfully and please explain how you will mitigate each risk?

The main risk surrounding this is financial. In the absence of this grant, I will need to seek outside financial help via employment which will deter my passion and contributions the the network. If I receive this grant, there is not a significant risk involved other than this.

Please provide a detailed plan, including timeline and key milestones for delivering your proposal.

1) Begin research on DAOs and their possibilities with ADAO and Boss DAO.

2) Establish working group for this grant that will help me in my goals & pursuits.

3) Set goals and aspirations as a working group -> begin collaborative research with academic design and intent.

4) Conduct research on DAOs

5) Publish results on-chain.

Please provide a detailed budget breakdown.

5000 USD worth of ADA will be directly used to improve my ability to pursue my goals.

I will have the end of Fall semester set as my completion date. My monthly payments will be a stipend I can either convert to cash (if needed) or spend on Cardano assets to help with my DAO work.

Please provide details of the people who will work on the project.

In addition to Jack, the proposer, Adam Rusch will serve as project Mentor.

Dr. Rusch is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the School of Information Sciences at my school, the University of Illinois. He is also a Core Contributor to ADAO, the first DAO on Cardano.

If you are funded, will you return to Catalyst in a later round for further funding? Please explain why / why not.

Yes. As a student, the need for funding never ceases. Whether it is personal or academic need, the need persists. Returning to the next Catalyst round will allow me to continue my work and contribute more to Cardano. I hope to be a member of many projects that will benefit Cardano in the future.

Please describe what you will measure to track your project's progress, and how will you measure these?

I will start hosting publicly available Twitter Spaces to discuss and spread my learning from Boss DAO and ADAO. I will measure the number of attendees, gauge the sentiment of the crowd via questions.

I will also give monthly reports about what I have learned and how my experience working with DAOs has grown.

What does success for this project look like?

Success for this project looks like this:

Students collaborating from all over the world to pursue their goals both on and off chain. This will push the entire space forward as more young, talented students join forces to contribute. If I receive this grant I will use my experience to tell other students about how Project Catalyst provides opportunities for learning and advancement.

Please provide information on whether this proposal is a continuation of a previously funded project in Catalyst or an entirely new one.

This is not a continuation of a previous proposal.
