Academic Research at UBA, one of the most prestigious Universities in LATAM, with focus on Decentralized Governance Research.

Please describe your proposed solution

In line with this, we propose hosting an educational event at the Law Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), one of the most prestigious universities in LATAM. The event will serve as a platform to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by decentralized governance systems, with a focus on Cardano's innovative approach. During the event, we will invite legal scholars, practitioners, and students to participate in discussions and workshops aimed at exploring the intersection of blockchain technology and Argentine law.

Through presentations and case studies, attendees will gain insights into the various applications of blockchain in legal contexts, including smart contracts, digital identity, and decentralized dispute resolution.

Furthermore, we will encourage participants to propose research projects focusing on decentralized governance, with a special emphasis on Cardano. Projects may encompass a range of topics, including constitutional research, analysis of other blockchain’s governments, identification of potential points of failure, government health metrics, and more.}

At the end of this event, a jury comprising experienced builders from the Cardano Community, academics, and teachers from the university, will select two winners. These winners will receive funding to further their research and publish their findings.

By fostering academic research on decentralized governance, we can enrich the ecosystem with valuable insights, enhancing Cardano’s long-term success.

Please define the positive impact your project will have on the wider Cardano community

It is essential to encourage and support academic research on decentralized governance for Cardano. By actively promoting the production of academic papers on decentralized governance, Cardano can enrich its ecosystem with valuable insights and knowledge, ultimately enhancing its long-term viability and success.

What is your capability to deliver your project with high levels of trust and accountability? How do you intend to validate if your approach is feasible?

LATAM Cardano Community:

LATAM Cardano Community is a decentralized alliance that inspire and empowers individuals, organizations, initiatives and governments with interest in Latin América, to foster collaboration and to expand the adoption of Cardano to facilitate its impact in and from the region to the world. The core team of the LATAM Cardano Community, has now more than two years of demonstrated valuable contributions both to the wider global cardano community and to the Latin American ecosystem. Our capabilities range from event organization to community engagement, from decentralized governance to translation to local languages, from helping people to create and present their projects to actively promoting them in order for the world to learn about the LATAM opportunity. Our members are deeply conected to Cardano playing key roles such as ambassadors, Intersect Committes and work groups, core development, DeFi and NFT projects and cardano specific news media outlets. After more than 70 TownHalls produced, the LATAM community has proven that it can deliver on its promises. We also held five LATAM Ideafest (F7, F8, F9, F10 & F11) almost 100 proposals being presented in Spanish and Portuguese and recorded for their promotion. We have started also alternating the TownHall in zoom with Twitter Spaces, having held more than 20.

How does the cost of the project represent value for money for the Cardano ecosystem?

The lack of academic papers on decentralized governance poses a significant challenge to Cardano's success. As a blockchain platform that prioritizes decentralized peer reviewed decision-making and governance mechanisms, Cardano relies on robust research and academic discourse to inform its development and implementation.

Academic papers serve as a crucial source of knowledge and insights for the Cardano community. They provide in-depth analyses, theoretical frameworks, and empirical evidence that help to elucidate the potential benefits and challenges of decentralized governance models. Furthermore, academic papers play a vital role in advancing the understanding of decentralized governance within the broader academic community.

By disseminating research findings and engaging in scholarly debates, academics contribute to the collective knowledge base and promote innovation and best practices in governance design and implementation.

However, the current scarcity of academic papers on decentralized governance represents a gap in the literature that needs to be addressed. Without sufficient research and scholarly discourse, Cardano may struggle to fully realize its vision of a decentralized, self-governing ecosystem.
