The Catalyst Campus Train team begun planning for December campus Train right after we executed the maiden event successfully on November 12, 2022. The team came to consensus to hold the next Cardano Catalyst Campus Train with students of the University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), WA - a public tertiary accredited university in the upper West region of Ghana. The aim of was to introduce these business and development students into the opportunities of Project Catalyst, Cardano blockchain and Cardano ADA in order that they can appreciate the significance and prospects of Cardano Blockchain to the socio-economic growth of Africa's economy and Youth.
The Project team then decided Thursday, December 15 and SEM B Conference Hall as date and venue respectively. We booked venue and 3 rooms ( 2 pairing rooms, 2 single rooms ) for the five (5) project team. We then boarded tickets for event location as all the team had to leave from home city, Tamale to WA; a 5-6 hour journey that could be journeyed by Bus. We took off on Wednesday morning and arrived destination (WA) in the afternoon, same day. The team after catching some rest went and checked venue to ensure chairs, projector, lightning and registration desk are all setup.
On event day, Game day, more than 50 people checked in as at 10AM GMT+0. The event started with an informal session from team lead, Mohammed Mustapha Yakubu and about 10:30AM, the presentations started with an introduction to cryptocurrencies and blockchain by Seidu Ziblim. Thereafter, team lead Mohammed Mustapha Yakubu presented on Cardano Blockchain, Cardano use-cases and opportunities for Africa, Cardano ADA wallet creation (eternl wallet) and Project Catalyst; roles, rewards and governance.
The key metrics: 50+ participants 30+ eternl wallet created by participants 30+ ideascale accounts created by participants to participate in Project Catalyst Enhanced outreach and audience for Cardano in Ghana and Africa.
Conclusively, the team ended event around 2:00PM GMT+0 with Refreshments and group photo of participants. The team plans to hold the next campus Train on Saturday, January 14, 2023.
Catalyst Campus Train project has a 5-member team with Mustapha as team lead and FP. Upon going through PoL and onboarding process, the team met virtually to decide venue, resources and marketing strategies for our maiden event.
We then concluded on Saturday, November 12 as date for first campus Train and targetted students of Tamale Technical University (TaTu) with few from University for Development Studies (UDS). We then booked the Tamale Regional Library as venue, launched marketing and registration while procuring T shirts, lunch and snacks for event.
Within 72 hours after start of registration, we reached target number of 50 registered participants via Google form we shared. We then extracted registration report for continued communication with participants before, during and after the event.
At end of session, the (two) key facilitators presented intensively on general blockchain, Cardano and project catalyst. Participants were educated and empowered with Yoroi wallet installation and setup, recovery of Wallet and ideascale account creation as well as proposal assessment (PA), vPA, Voting and staking ADA.
Over 40 participants learnt these processes and started exploring further to individually practice to familiarise themselves with ideascale, Yoroi wallet and trading ADA on binance and other exchanges.
