Monthly Reports

Last month, we experienced a hold in our development process due to a shortage of DevOps resources. However, we have found a solution to this issue. We have decided to modify the geth full node for Ethereum, which has full compatibility with the graph, so that it is able to sync with C1 (based on Hyperledger Besu). This approach is more efficient than modifying TheGraph to work with Besu.

By making this change, we hope to overcome the DevOps resource block and continue making progress on our project. We believe that this solution will allow us to move forward smoothly and efficiently.

To reiterate much of last month's report, our team will first focus on preparing the Milkomeda DeFi Hackathon (800143 proposal ID). However, in order to speed up the process we will carry out internal preparations in parallel. That said, the realization of Milkomeda DeFi Hackathon will affect the official start date for accepting submissions for Milkomeda Hackathon.

Our first step in preparing for the launch of the next hackathon is to create the appropriate categories under which participants will build projects and create ideas, as well as rules and acquiring media partners. Due to the fact that December is a month when we may see a significant drop in people's activity in many parts of the world, we will not be officially launching the hackathons this year. We would like to make the best use of Catalyst funds and get as many submissions as possible, which will translate into a significant number of projects on the Milkomeda Cardano Sidechain. We are also learning lessons from the Milkomeda DAO Hackathon to run the program even better.

Therefore, in December, we've focused our attention on the program design of the Milkomeda DeFi Hackathon (see proposal 800143), since its launch will directly sequence to this proposal's launch. Our goal is to start marketing and announcing the Hackathon at the very beginning of next year. The program should launch no later than the first half of February (right after Milkomeda DeFi Hackathon). The process to launch this Hackathon end of February is moving along as planned.

To reiterate part of last month's message, December is a month when we usually see a significant drop in people's activity in many parts of the world, meaning we will not be officially launching the hackathon until early next year. This is our way to make the best use of Catalyst funds and get as many submissions as possible, which will translate into a significant number of projects on the Milkomeda Cardano Sidechain. We are also learning lessons from the Milkomeda DAO Hackathon to run the program even better. This month we coordinated our team leads and began designing the program structure and implementation. While we can't share too many program details without having solidified our process and rules (to avoid later confusion), please view these screenshots of our notion-based handbook WIP Our goal is to start marketing and announcing the Hackathon at the very beginning of next year. The program should launch no later than January.

Our goal is to build the infrastructure required to be able to bring NFTs or ERC1155-compatible assets between Cardano <-> Milkomeda. Recently we released New open-source smart contract (Plutus Minting & Burning Contract) that allow users mint & burn tokens using a Plutus contract. Thanks to our proposed solution we will make it possible:

  • More efficient bridges in the UTXO model (such as Milkomeda C1)
  • Token redemption functionality To solve this, our smart contract allows defining both minting and burning logic as a smart contract! This contract is meant to create a unique minting and burning contract for every ERC721 smart contract that is bridged to the Cardano blockchain.

The ERC721 id is used to configure the smart contract, along with a "permission NFT" policy id and token name. Using the ERC721 id as part of the configuration ensures the policy id for the NFTs is unique. The permission NFT is required to be spent in either the minting or burning transaction.

Multiple NFTs can be minted or burned in a transaction. However, to ensure that NFTs are minted, only one token for each token name can be minted in a transaction.

We worked with a different implementation of zk-rollup so we could validate a different set of tradeoffs between their implementation (Mina) and the one from zkSync

  • The research was done around Mina’s kimchi elliptic curve and its programming language. One of the most important use cases is that Mina will enable the creation of trustless Oracles using any website that has a TLS (https). This will open up a lot of new use cases currently not possible in other virtual machines.
  • Another of the main advantages of Mina is that its entire blockchain can fit in 22 kb using zk-snarks. This could eventually be a Cardano smart contract. Cardano would need a small increase in tx limit and also the implementation of a new elliptic curve which it may not be as big deal as you could expect — recently secp256k1 was implemented. The information to recreate the state of the chain would be stored on C1 as a data availability solution. The current plan would be do an analysis on how to deploy Mina on top of C1 but with a plan to eventually port it to be directly on top of Cardano mainnet. Evidence: We are working on three smart contracts that will be created for Mina in order to test capabilities. A signing webserver using Mina crypto primitives, a smart contract Oracle, and a game. We successfully deployed a game sc and in next report we will be able to make all contracts public and show as a next evidence of proposal progress.

Milkomeda Foundation continued its commitment to supporting and strengthening the Milkomeda C1 Cardano ecosystem through the Bridge liquidity for top protocols grant proposal. Through this initiative, the Foundation will provide liquidity to four high-performing protocols deployed on the Milkomeda C1 Cardano sidechain: Occam Dex, Bluesfhit, Milkyswap, and Muesliswap.

To date, the Foundation will allocate a total of $59,638 in liquidity to these protocols, representing 65% of the grant's funding. The Foundation is committed to supporting at least five protocols through this grant, and is actively working to increase the number of projects benefiting from this initiative.

The additional liquidity provided by the Foundation will enable the selected protocols to thrive and compete with other protocols on the market. By supporting these top protocols, the Foundation is helping to drive innovation and growth within the Milkomeda C1 Cardano ecosystem. We are confident that these efforts will continue to pay off in the future as the ecosystem continues to evolve and expand.

On the export side, things are going well and moving forward to the final product. The attached images are how the boxes will look - carrying a link to the blockchain-backed certificate. Leads are moving forward, but still no closures - there are many participants (internal and external) in the ""sustainable projects"" which looks like our major difficulty in working quickly with large companies - we have to align benefits and incentives with several parties.

We are happy to report that the First Milkomeda Game tournament was conducted successfully. The team at Paima Studios has been working hard day and night to deliver Jungle Wars: NFT Rumble to the community! To guarantee the experience is seamless on launch, we have decided to make the tough call of pushing the release to early January. While we were all excited to spend our time off over the holiday season playing Jungle Wars together at Paima Studios, we believe in a quality-first approach and as such want to ship a game that is truly ready for the community to enjoy. We know many community members have been anxiously asking us when the game will launch in our Discord, but we believe it will really be worth the wait! Thanks for the patience and support, and get ready for a thrilling start to 2023 !Therefore, this monthly report will be about the OG of the tournament, which was completed at the beginning of December and we received a very large amount of positive feedback from our beta testers. The Jungle Wars: NFT Rumble pre-release tournament was an exciting event that brought together players from all around the world. With 25 players representing 19 different time zones, it was a truly global event.

Throughout the tournament, a total of 75 games were played, with each player putting in their best effort to secure victory. In total, the tournament lasted 375 minutes, with players competing in fast-paced and intense matches.

In the end, all of the hard work and dedication paid off, as one player emerged as the champion. It was a thrilling finale to a memorable tournament, and all of the players can be proud of their performances.

Overall, The Jungle Wars: NFT Rumble pre-release tournament was a huge success, and it's clear that the players are already looking forward to the next one and official game release in early Jan. Thus, this is our last report, because the work on the game itself is completed and minor fixes will not affect the postponement of the release. We will prepare a Project Close Report right after public release.

Work progressed towards generating diagrams, a major objective of the original proposal. As a matter of fact, this essentially represents the final major milestone, suggesting we will be able to deliver a project demo video and closeout report significantly ahead of schedule. Again, MLabs' ability to frontload costs is the main reason why this is possible.

The essential updates of the last month include involve extending the data types incorporated into main modules. Namely, this includes the PNat and the support for Nbe.

We are happy to announce that the official public release of the game will take place in December! Today we’re very excited to announce the pre-release tournament for the first game from Paima Studios: Jungle Wars: NFT Rumble. This maiden tournament will be exclusively for the Paima Studios OGs, and it will be the first time any members of the public have played Jungle Wars on the Milkomeda C1 mainnet!

This will be the first tournament from Paima Studios and the first time members of the public have tried the game! This is our OG exclusive, Jungle Wars: NFT Rumble Pre-Release Tournament!

This tournament will be a simple, single-elimination tournament where entrants will play a best-of-3 match with their opponent. The player who wins 2 games will progress, and the loser will be eliminated. Here are some of the finer details:

  • For the first match, players will be matched with someone who is in, or close to, their timezone.
  • Once each player has been assigned an opponent, they have 24 hours to play their first match.
  • Players will then need to report the winner of each match in the Paima Studios Discord.

"(1) We have an ongoing commercial deal for transporting 200 containers of fruit from Chile to the US, Portugal, England, Netherlands, China, and other countries. This should be an annually recurring service (and revenue). We are working on the last details to fulfill the project.

The blockchain is used for two key processes:

(A) Tokenizing the CO2eq with ERC-721 in 1 Ton units and trespassing the legal rights to these tokens.  (B) Writing certificate/document hashes.

We have leads in Europe and Chilean Supermarkets that are interested in working with us, as also one of the largest local dairy producers wants to be able to label their products: this is going very well.

And we are currently working on the technology to be able to scale this to other clients, such as dashboards, tools, and certificates to allow self-service CO2 emissions traceability.

We had a breakthrough, Cotalker solved biggest problem: Validating the business model with a real customer. Cotalker will work with "WHM SPA" that is a Chilean company for fruit exportation, that is fully verticalized. This is a great first case, where we will from the product formation (grapes) in Chile until its sold in Portugal's supermarkets.

We are extremely happy to announce that we have completed the promises made in this proposal and we launched Gnosis Safe integration with Milkomeda : https://gnosis.milkomeda.com/ We have successfully launched an instance of Gnosis Safe on the Milkomeda C1 Mainnet. To do this, we have secured space on a single server to run the infrastructure of Gnosis Safe for both the mainnet and testnet and have made the necessary tweaks to the code to make sure that the SAFE token and SafeDAO elements of the protocol didn’t break it when it was deployed to Milkomeda C1.

The project is still near completion but continuing to go through final bug fixes, preparation for production deployment, and entering into private beta to iron our all of the final issues. Last week we prepared internal tests (on more than 40 users). We are conducting a very thorough survey to get key feedback before the official launch of the game. The results are already very promising at this stage, however, they also allowed us to get some key bug-fixes reports that we started working on right away.

Milkomeda EVM node configurations for partners wanting to connect to the evm nodes p2p network. To ensure decentralization, we wanted to ensure many users run full nodes. Additionally, developers often require access to either full nodes or archive nodes to power their dApps and projects. By providing an easy-to-use docker setup, we will made sure users and developers can easily run their own nodes instead of depending on centralized services that host nodes for them. We provided read.me file which consists: Usage

Milkomeda Bridge Explorer is a web platform that is able to do full traceability to ADA and other tokens when moved from Milkomeda to Cardano L1 and vice versa. It's like a blockchain explorer that supports two different chains. The core of Milkomeda is responsible for receiving information from the chains and makes decisions based on the received events. These events are called wraps and unwraps. The project is currently on the mainnet :https://bridge-explorer.c1.milkomeda.com/ . Project Close Report is almost ready to be shared in the comming days. We are committed to the continuing development of the Milkomeda Bridge Explorer with many new features already in the pipeline: More filtering options More sorting options Chart views Status — enabling users to observe the step-by-step process of each transaction in the bridge. And much more to come

Carp is a new indexer for Cardano that saves its data to a Postgres database (SQL). Carp has the following core pillars: Flexible: allow wallets and dapps full freedom in how they handle data Modular: it should only index what you need Speed: queries should be fast Type safe: developers should know exactly what data to expect to avoid any critical issues in their products. Documented: it should be easy for any developer to get started with Carp We’ll continue updating Carp as needed and next, we’ll work on implementing Carp into Flint Wallet. However, what comes after that is partially up to you! Any developer can write Carp tasks and contribute to Carp (fully open-source MIT license). We can consider the intended works on the project completed. In the near future we will prepare a project close report with video explaining carp.
